Construction Managers

In preparation for the commencement of substantial new projects during the Spring and Summer of 2010, the UK Engineering Group is now seeking to attract experienced candidates with Subsea commissioning and construction experience to increase our existing talent bank.
 
The roles advertised are technically and professionally challenging with a focus on bundles packages, Subsea pipelines, structures and manifolds. Subsea 7 currently have requirements for several Construction Managers to be based at our Arnhall office, Westhill. 


Brief Description of the Role

 
The Construction Manager will be responsible for the provision of engineering, design and technical support to all areas of the business, primarily Project Operations and Business Acquisition.  The main areas of expertise within the Construction Engineering Group will cover a wide range of Project Support activities for Construction Projects.
 
Reporting
 
The Construction Manager will report directly to the UK Projects Engineering Manager.
 
 
Main Responsibilities
 
  • Co-ordinate all activities of the group in providing engineering support to Construction Projects. The group will liaise closely with other engineering groups within the company.
  • Co-ordinate the development of opportunities for improving current ways of working.
  • Work with the R&D group to identify and promote proposals for product enhancement and development.
  • Liaising with Project Managers and others to identify and plan levels and quality of personnel to efficiently support project operations and other areas of the business.
  • Work with others to establish skills and competence levels for engineers within the group.
  • Develop and maintain standards, guidelines and model documents for use within the group.
  • Provide leadership for all engineers in the group and ensure the delivery of quality work.
  • Liaise with internal and external clients, etc. to promote the capabilities of Subsea 7 as a whole and the group in particular.
  • Ensure that the safe standards of work are implemented in accordance with company procedures and industry standards.
  • Participate with others in the recruitment and selection of personnel for the group.
  • Participate with others in the training and professional development of the group personnel.
  • Liaise with peer groups within the worldwide organisation.
  • Receive and collate reports from within the group and prepare management reports.
  • Work with others to provide financial reporting for the group.
  • Resource planning for deployment of engineers into the operational projects.
  • Promote Corporate HSEQ Policies through personal commitment.
 Experience and Skills
 
  • Professional Engineering Qualification (minimum - a degree relevant to the industry)
  • Relevant experience in the Subsea Oil and Gas Industry, both onshore and offshore
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Well motivated and enthusiastic individual who works well in a team environment
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate people.

Skills
• Ability to lead a construction team across multiple projects
• Good organisational skills and smart working methods
• Ability to manage interfaces within a project structure, including other disciplines, drawing office, document control, project management, client and suppliers


Qualifications and Education
• Considerable experience in Construction Management within the Subsea industry
• Degree qualified preferably
• Can articulate learning and training experiences


Experience
• Demonstrable ability to work within time/budget constraints
• Familiar with industry recognised engineering software
• Ability to prioritise own and others’ workload, manage time and change control accordingly and direct team members where constraints will affect a project in terms of programme or budget
