Global BA Engineering/Construction Lead
Gateway Bidding is a function within Global BA which was created by the Executive Management to assist the Company achieve its global targets through strategic bidding of major global prospects (typically over $100m in value). The work is of a diverse nature due to the combination of the extensive project scopes, geographic spread and degree of technical challenges, usually involving deep water construction, remote locations and use of new technologies. The Gateway team's remit is to develop robust and economic technical solutions for such projects, in-line with Client expectations, with proper risk assessed cost estimates and contingency. The position of Engineering/ Construction Lead within a Gateway bid is well suited to experienced engineering and construction managers looking for exposure to large projects, however it also offers an opportunity for up-and-coming senior engineers who aspire to these positions.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Working as part of an integrated tender team your responsibilities will include:
- Management of multi-discipline engineering activities and teams, requiring good overall knowledge of the key elements of subsea field developments and construction vessels/ methodologies
- Develop technical solutions and produce the necessary engineering input to the Gateway proposals group to build a cost base for the project
- Responsible for coordination and review of tender deliverables from engineering support groups such as Central Engineering, CoEs, VST and PPG
- Oversee the review of Client documentation and determine overall technical compliance, producing technical clarifications and qualifications as necessary
- Oversee technical input to supply chain procurement enquiries and evaluations, liaising with regional C&P functions
- Identify and mitigate commercial risks related to the proposed technical solutions
- Oversee development of schedules for engineering, procurement, fabrication and offshore construction work in conjunction with the Gateway planner
- Summarise and present technical solutions as part of Gateway and Executive management reviews
- Evaluate need for external engineering support - management of such work, deliverables, schedule and cost
- Development of manhour estimates for engineering and engineering management
- Participate in face-to-face clarification meetings and presentations with Clients
- Provide early technical input to long term Business Development pursuits and strategy development (often with Client contact
- Supervise and mentor junior engineers assigned to the tender
- Independently evaluate, organise and prioritise work, maintaining high standards of technical excellence within the team

Technical:
Deepwater subsea engineering and construction experience preferred.
Technical knowledge of flowline & riser systems, subsea umbilical/ control systems and subsea structures
Deepwater pipe lay and construction experience preferred

Good organisational skills and smart working methods
Qualifications and Education General Education:
Relevant previous experience at an appropriate level
Specified Qualifications for position:
University graduate in a relevant engineering discipline
Continuing Professional Development:
Can articulate learning and training experiences
Experience General:
Demonstrable ability to work within time/ budget constraints
Deepwater pipelay and construction experience preferred
Self Managerial:
Ability to prioritise own and others workload, manage time and change control accordingly and direct team members where constraints will affect a project in terms of programme budget
