Proposals Manager

Main Responsibilities:

•Management of the tendering process in accordance with the Business Management System (BMS)

•Review of all tenders and establishment of action plans necessary to ensure on-time and accurate responses to tender submission requirements.

•Provide leadership, supervision and mentoring of the Proposal Engineers and Proposal Coordinator in the overall performance of their duties.

•Assist in the pursuit of future business in accordance with BMS.

•Management of proposals and contracts team within agreed budget(s).

•Ensure accurate and economic costing of tenders and assessment of risk including competition/market trends.

•Ensure that tenders include tax and exchange rate reviews.

•Negotiate terms and conditions of tenders with customers to achieve the best commercial position with minimum exposure to risk.

•Question, appraise, evaluate and improve the activities of the department.

•Receive functional guidance and advice from the BA & Commercial Manager.

•Provide business planning and reporting assistance to BA & Commercial Manager.

•Management of Performance Appraisal for direct reports and participation on an individual basis.

•Other duties as directed by BA & Commercial Manager from time to time.

Communication Presentation:
Candidates should also have a desire to provide exceptional customer service both internally and externally to the Company.

Work Presentation:
Should be able to demonstrate an advanced level of business based communication skills which are mindful and respectful of all project and client based personnel and demonstrates ability to effectively communicate in high profile situations.

Must produce work of a presentable standard to Line Manager and Client, which is accurate, paying particular attention to contractual and financial details of proposals and agreements.

Skills
Interpersonal:
The position will require candidates to interact with people at various levels within the organisation and externally with client representatives in the pursuit of new business and in maintaining current client relationships. It is essential that candidates be in possession of excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and leadership skills.

Technical:
Previous experience of ROV Industry is preferred with appropriate level of experience within a commercial based job role. Proven experience of the ability to effectively negotiate is deemed a pre-requisite for the role.

Self -Management:
The position calls for a self motivated individual who has the adaptability to work effectively as part of team and as an individual. Proven organisational skills and the ability to review work methods in support of continually developing smart and efficient work methods.



Qualifications and Education
General Education:
Degree qualified (ideally in Quantity Surveying or Business Management)

Specified Qualifications for Position:
Relevant previous experience in a supervisory capacity, preferably within a commercial/proposals environment. Candidates should be able to demonstrate and or show willingness to develop themselves as appropriate to the job role. An interest in the ROV and Subsea engineering field is deemed necessary.



Experience
General Experience:
Extensive experience within the oil and gas Subsea sector within an international arena will be a distinct advantage. Previous experience in leading and managing a team of professional staff members within a commercial role.

Technical Experience:
Well developed skills and knowledge base in the fields of Proposals is essential.

Self-Management Experience:
Ability to identify and effectively prioritise workload and key issues of self and team within a dynamic and busy work environment and to work without the need for direct supervision.



Specific Job Related Requirements
Personal Disposition:
Candidate is required to present a professional appearance. Ability to demonstrate good leadership qualities in the directing of personnel in a manner which is representative of company’s values on people management. The position is of a dynamic nature and therefore will require a certain amount of flexibility and the ability to deal with changing priorities.

Physical Capabilities:
The position is office based therefore no manual handling issues are envisaged, however candidates maybe required to attend occasional offshore based work sites, whereby the working conditions will be more of an industrial environment.

Location Mobility:
The position is onshore based within an office environment. However, candidates will be required to undertake a certain amount of international travel throughout our areas of operation due to the global nature of the role.

Must be physically fit for the required position subject to reasonable adjustments.
