DESCRIPTION OF ROLE

Under guidance from a Senior and/or Lead Engineer, the Reel Lay Installation Project Engineer - Pipeline Group provides engineering skills to projects, tendering activities, engineering studies, vessels and equipment and/or offshore engineering processes. The role incorporates the full installation process from the procedure preparation up to the following of offshore operation. She/he is responsible for delivering fit for purpose rigid pipeline installation engineering on projects or tenders with specific focus on safe and cost effective installation operations.

Compliance with and delivery against project plans, relevant engineering standards and contractual obligations is required. The Reel Lay Installation Project Engineer - Pipeline Group usually works as part of a team but may have responsibility for discrete work packages. He/she may be required to check technical documentation.

All personnel are expected to contribute to creating a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices.

SPECIFIC KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES

 

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Provides skills, integrity and knowledge in the key area of reel-lay engineering, including design codes, legislative requirements and current good engineering practice. Understands clients' needs; identifies and addresses design parameters and problems; develops and implements solutions.
  • Under limited supervision, independently evaluates, organises and prioritizes work which is normally subject to internal checking and approval.
  • Responsible for production of deliverables, which may include design calculations, specifications, procedures, progress reports, bid evaluations, and study reports.
  • Originates technical documentation, accepting personal responsibility for its adequacy.
  • Provides engineering support during operations with occasional periods offshore or at dock.
  • Proposes offshore vessel schedules, attempting to optimize operational timings
  • Aware of all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements.
  • Involved in HAZID studies and TRAs of tasks detailed in the procedures
  • Interfaces with associated subsea related disciplines and understands the interfaces within the project environment
  • Involved with meetings/correspondence with Clients, subcontractors, 3rd parties, etc. in a technical capacity.
  • Adds to the Pipeline Group department lessons learned consolidation
  • Proposes innovative solutions allowing cost & risks reduction

  • Support standards and procedures for the Engineering and Operations Functions

KEY QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

 

  • Engineering degree or equivalent.
  • More extensive industry experience may obviate the requirement for formal academic qualifications.
