FIELD DEVELOPMENT GROUP – BACKGROUND

Subsea 7’s Field Development Group (FDG) is a technical organisation that engages with clients early in their development processes, offering supplier-led subsea field development solutions.

In Subsea 7, Supplier-led solutions are:

  • Characterised by early engagement with the client, before a traditional tendering or FEED phase. 
  • Field Development Concepts which focus on our most appropriate technologies, products, services, standardised offerings and overall solution package. 
  • Often integrating third party packages and technologies to develop most optimal overall concept solution for the client. 
  • Aiming to provide improved customer value by targeting earlier production, enhanced recovery, and a life cycle approach and also by providing more robust budgeting, improved risk management and project execution surety.  
  • Both integrated SPS-SURF and non-integrated (SURF & conventional only). 

FDG has capabilities and capacity to support study activity in following early development stages:

  • Feasibility / Concept Screening
  • Concept select / pre-FEED
  • FEED / Design Competition (System Definition, Optimisation & Uncertainty identification focus)
  • Flow Assurance /SURF technology /Discipline specific (during early development stages)

The continued growth and development of the Field Development Group is in response to the evolving market of early Contractor / Service company involvement in subsea field development planning and delivery. As such, Subsea 7 offers a technically challenging and diverse environment in which you can develop your potential. The group is actively encouraged to explore and challenge the boundaries of conventional methods and technologies. The group offers the potential to influence the high-value strategic decisions regarding the way in which a field can be developed.

The Group is looking to expand its capabilities broadly in the area of Field Development Planning and is looking for suitable candidates in the role of Field Development Manager.

This role is based in Kuala Lumpur, with a requirement for travel in the Asia Pacific region, and reports to the Sales & Marketing Director.

ROLE DESCRIPTION:

The Field Development Group Manager shall be responsible for the regional FDG team. This includes management of the FDG team and workload, delivery of integrated subsea field development planning work scopes, as well as working directly and effectively with client organisations to identify and support their field development solution needs.

The role will require the following core capabilities;

  • Solid Field Development knowledge
  • Understand field development drivers and economics
  • Able to manage multi-discipline teams
  • Effective client communication and presentation
  • Able to optimise overall solution drivers & understand impact on solution selection
  • Drive delivery of schedule & quality of deliverables
  • Ensure value proposition clearly identified in study output
  • Collaborate & support Sales and Business Development teams

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Qualifications and Experience

  • Candidates must have proven Subsea Field Development Experience working to a similar level
  • Experience of working on Front End Design and Concept Studies is essential
  • Experience managing teams and budgets is required
  • Candidates would ideally demonstrate a background in client or consultant roles supporting early stage field development activity.
  • Some knowledge or experience of contractor / service company environments is desirable but not essential
  • It is preferable for candidate to be degree qualified in a relevant subsea oilfield discipline
  • Candidates should show a commitment to their own Continuing Professional Development

Profile & Skills

  • Sound general ability across wide subject areas, comfortable working in highly changeable environment typical of early phase development planning and able to demonstrate an ability to focus on value enhancing priorities
  • Strong communication skills, oral, written and electronic, able to lead effective communication across the team to deliver solutions in a complex environment that meet clients’ needs
  • Demonstrable ability to work in multi discipline environment with ability to prioritise own and others’ workload
  • Manage a team of Field Development Group engineers with a focus on developing talent
