Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Engineer/Project Manager will manage a technical team engaged on a project or within a discipline or may be assigned overall responsibility for the management of the tenders and projects assigned to him/her. 


The Engineer/Project Manager will manage and organise the team to meet the short term project objectives and the long term needs of the business.  He/she will contribute to the development of the appropriate Discipline Engineering, Project Engineering or Drafting /Design teams to ensure they support the company's commercial and project execution strategies. The Engineer/Project Manager is responsible for delivering the assigned tenders and projects to a high quality service that not only meets client requirements, but also meets or exceeds the financial values forecast as sold in the tender.

Generic Key Responsibilities & Activities


  • Under broad guidance, manages an operational segment of Engineering or Construction by directing, developing, communicating, and implementing the company's direction and strategic goals.
  • Contributes to business development and marketing internally to the company's employees as well as externally to the clients.
  • Provides specialist skills, integrity and knowledge in project or discipline engineering, including design codes, legislative requirements and current good engineering practice. Understands clients' needs; identifies and addresses design parameters and problems; develops and implements solutions.


  • Monitors and supports the pursuit of project opportunities and identifies the resources and training necessary.
  • Identifies applications for existing and new technologies, and communicates best practices throughout the team.
  • May participate in early development of strategy, implementation and execution phases.
  • Responsibilities may include business development, budget control, project & resource management, engineering operations, performance management, training and all other related business activities.
  • Establishes goals and objectives for engineering operations and makes operational decisions.
  • Fully endorses and executes all Health, Safety and Environmental initiatives
  • Oversee and ensure the successful delivery of the tender/project in line with the  Country/Territory business objectives in terms of profit and loss, safety, quality and client satisfaction
  • Ensure all project interface aspects are addressed in a timely and appropriate manner in sufficient detail to ensure smooth progress of the work
  • At Tender stage, lead negotiation with Client in line with Subsea 7's strategic objectives
  • Ensure all work on assigned tenders and projects is performed in accordance with the Instructions to Tender or contract requirements, the requirements of Subsea 7's Management System, the requirements of applicable laws, rules and regulations and applicable codes and standards
  • Liaise with the support functions, select, build, lead and develop a high performance project team by establishing clear roles and responsibilities, building positive relationships with stakeholders which highlight their impact on the success of the project







  • Operate within the Business Code of Conduct.

  • Relevant degree or equivalent.
  • Accreditation from a professional body is desirable, but not essential.
  • Relevant previous experience, preferably in the SURF business, at an appropriate level including Senior, Lead or Principal.
