DESCRIPTION OF FUNCTION

A significant part of Subsea7 Engineering performance directly relies on Computer-Aided Engineering and Design (CAE & CAD) software efficiency.

This efficiency is supported by the performance of the tools themselves, but also on:
- How Engineers work with them (methods),
- How they interact (process),
- Where they run (High Performance Computing - HPC),
- How we feed them (Data Management with Product Data Management – PDM - and Product Lifecycle Management - PLM)

Based within the Design & Analysis Group of Subsea 7’s Global Project Centre, you will be in charge of supporting, improving and developing each aspects to maintain our CAE capabilities at best level.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

You will be in charge of improving and developing:
- Interfaces between disciplines through data management including CAD model (essential for our PLM),
- Workflows and optimisation process executed on HPC environment or on workstation,
- Template models (CAE and CAD)
Deployment to engineers will be made through guideline documents and eventually trainings. Your role will be key in the support of new ways of working deployment.

On opportunities, the engineer takes in charge Project Scopes of work from various disciplines to get experience, understand ways of working and propose improvements.

AUTHORITY/DIMENSIONS
Functional:
• Validate documents and actions produced under his/her responsibility.
• Supervise trainees in the course of their mission.

• Engineers from different disciplines
• Software vendors

CAPABILITY PROFILE – KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND BEHAVIOURS

Experience within a similar role or as design engineer.
Good knowledge and experience on Finite Element Analysis.
Eagerness to learn.
Appetite for CAE software and scripting.
Good inter-personal and communication skills.
Experience in Oil & Gas industry would be appreciated but is not mandatory.
Experience with PLM software such as TeamCenter or 3DExperience will be appreciated.
 

FEA package: Abaqus and/or Ansys Mechanical/Structural is mandatory, offshore dedicated software like Orcaflex, Isymost/NSO would be appreciated
Scripting code: ideally good experience in Python, VBA or VB.net
Desirable –
Basic knowledge and skills in CAD, ideally with AutoCAD and/or Inventor

Languages -
French, English

The role can be based in either Sutton (UK) or Suresnes (France).
