Role Profile  

Job Title:                                Pipeline Engineer

Reports to:                             Discipline Manager

OVERVIEW OF ROLE

Based within the Design & Analysis Department of Subsea 7’s Global Project Center, London offices, you will be specialising in the design of rigid pipelines.

All personnel are expected to contribute to creating a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices.

Specific Key Responsibilities & Activities

  • Provide specialist skills, integrity and knowledge in key areas of subsea pipeline engineering, including design codes, legislative requirements and current good engineering practice.
  • Undertake responsibility for production of deliverables, which may include engineering support to DO, design calculations, procedures, analyses, progress reports, bid evaluations, study reports and various third party submissions.
  • Provide pipeline, flexible flowline and/or umbilical analysis support for projects using analysis packages
  • Design and detailing in accordance with acknowledged industry codes, standards and design guides, client specifications and scopes of work
  • Production and checking of design documentation including feasibility reports, detailed design reports, equipment specifications etc
  • Provide mechanical and integrity calculations for offshore pipelines utilizing DNV tools, Abaqus or similar software
  • Coordinate pipeline engineering support to the execution of multidiscipline projects in line with defined budget and schedule
  • Liaise with associated subsea related disciplines and understand the interfaces within a project
  • Provide pipeline engineering assistance during occasional periods of offshore or site working
  • Provide pipeline engineering support to Business Acquisition and FEED study execution
  • Train / mentor junior and Graduate engineers
  • Actively participate in relevant training to pursue continuing professional development

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Experience, Skills and Knowledge

  • Professional qualifications – Degree qualified or above
  • Relevant engineering experience within the oil and gas industry
  • Can work to deadlines set by management
  • Presents self in a professional manner appropriate to the role
  • Produces work of presentable quality
  • Ability to prioritise and organise work
  • Knowledge of subsea pipeline engineering, including design codes
  • Able to provide analysis support for projects using analysis packages

 

Desirable Experience, Skills and Knowledge

  • Membership to a relevant Professional body
  • Engineering experience within the Subsea industry
  • Familiarity with recognised industry engineering software
  • Use of Abaqus
