Working in our Swagelining division and reporting directly to the Operations Support Manager, the Equipment & Resource Planning Engineer will have responsibility for driving the company’s Development Centre work flow through efficient planning of resources. Crucially, the Engineer will also have direct responsibility for managing the company’s extensive range of equipment, with specific responsibility for identifying and sourcing new equipment, equipment PPM, and ensuring equipment is ready for operations (RFO).

Equipment & Resource Planning Engineer –

Main Duties:

Reporting directly to the Operations Support Manager, the Equipment & Resource Planning Engineer will have responsibility for driving the company’s Development Centre work flow through efficient planning of resources. Crucially, the Engineer will also have direct responsibility for managing the company’s extensive range of equipment, with specific responsibility for identifying and sourcing new equipment, equipment PPM, and equipment RFO.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day requirements of the Technical Development Group (TDG) and the Project Department to ensure their demands within the Development Centre are appropriately schedules and that MS Project plans are updated.
  • Liaise with project owners to efficiently plan R&D programs and commercial Ready for Operations (RFO) schedules to ensure relevant goals, objectives and milestones are met in a timely, efficient and safe manner.
  • Responsible for the upkeep of the company’s preventative planned maintenance and reactive repairs function, ensuring all equipment is fully compliant and all work is carried out in accordance with the relevant legislative guidelines, procedures and work instructions.
  • Develop and maintain an efficient, lean spares programs for all assets.
  • Continually ensure all staff are trained to meet operational competency levels for all new or modified plant and Equipment. Within the Company’s equipment inventory.
  • Working closely with operational and engineering staff to anticipate and identify areas of risk / operational problems while assessing equipment performance and where necessary implement prevention and rectification plans to eliminate issues and optimise performance.
  • Be the technical authority for advising on, and final approval of all new equipment proposals or equipment modifications.
  • Ensure maintenance and modification works are carried out in a safe, technically correct manor and in accordance with legislation and manufacturers recommendations.
  • Provide a supporting role to the Technology Delivery Engineer, in developing new or existing technology to ensure the company meets the continuously evolving demands of our industry and clients.
  • Responsibility for direct liaison with primary equipment vendors to assess and identify best fit equipment prior to purchase or modification.
  • Responsible for keeping accurate records of maintenance and failures on all equipment through the company equipment control system.
  • Continually update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications and papers; maintaining technical and operational networks with clients, suppliers and work colleagues.

Skills & Experience:

  • Degree qualified in suitable subject e.g. engineering/management.
  • Deep understanding of and belief in the company’s product, and vision.
  • Experience in applying a combination of supervisory and technical skills in a previous support management role.
  • Strong competencies in project management and resource scheduling to keep R&D Initiatives on track while supporting man-power provisions for external project delivery.
  • Proactive collaborator with ability to communicate and work effectively among and between stakeholder groups.
  • Understanding of rigid pipeline fabrication, lining systems and connectors.
  • Solutions driven with advanced problem solving skills.
  • Strength of character to lead a team who may come from a range of different disciplines.
  • An ability to stay calm and tactful under pressure.
  • Well-considered in all actions having weighed-up all factors and understanding of underlying principles.
  • An ability to effectively manage positive change and maintain a culture of continual incremental improvement.
  • High degree of IT knowledge and practical application of the key programs within the MS Office suite (or similar).
  • Experience with MS Project is highly desirable

Location:

  • Glasgow, however it is expected that there will be periodic global travel.
