Subsea 7 has an exciting opportunity for a Riser Project Engineer within the Global Project Centre Engineering Team based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The Riser Project Engineer will be responsible for conducting in-place and installation analysis related to dynamic riser systems, in compliance with codes and Client specifications. This engineer will report to the Riser Design, Installation Analysis, Flexibles and Umbilical (RIAU) Design Lead and will be assigned to projects when required.

All personnel are expected to contribute to creating a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices.

All personnel are also expected to contribute to creating a culture of ethics and integrity within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to our Code of Conduct.


  • Perform global analysis (Extreme, Interference, Fatigue, VIV) of different riser systems: rigid risers, flexible risers, hybrid risers
  • Perform mechanical sizing of the lines
  • Perform analysis for soft product installation (flexible lay, umbilical lay, recovery, transfer, pull-in)
  • Perform analysis for structures installation (transportation, splash zone crossing, lowering, landing)
  • Perform wait on weather analysis
  • Perform not to exceed load analysis and provide interface loads to the relevant teams
  • Perform routing analysis
  • Provide offshore support to on-going installation activities
  • Prepare technical project documents such as analysis reports
  • Provide technical support to procurement of permanent items (specifications, perform design checks)
  • Consolidate experience within the discipline, keep up to date with Client specifications and good engineering practice

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide technical skills, knowledge in project or discipline engineering, including design codes and Client specifications
  • Understands client’s needs
  • Is involved with production of deliverables, including support to the drawing office, design calculations, specifications, etc.
  • Adhere to Subsea 7 values
  • Provide technical assistance in preparation of client / subcontractors meetings.
  • Assist junior / graduate engineers as appropriate


  • Professional qualifications: BEng or above
  • Relevant experience in offshore analysis (riser design or installation) expertise
  • Proficiency in design and analysis software is essential
  • Good knowledge of industry standards
  • Able to work in teams
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence to liaise with clients
  • Excellent report writing skills with the ability to self-check and produce accurate work
  • Ability to prioritise and organise work
  • Ability to communicate at all levels within the organization
  • A demonstrable commitment to HSE and Quality
  • Shall be self-motivated and have well developed interpersonal skills
  • A willingness to travel on short assignments overseas


  • Membership to a relevant Professional body
  • Experience in design, installation and construction of offshore pipelines, flexibles, umbilical, flying leads and risers
  • Knowledge of hydrodynamic physics
  • Knowledge of material engineering and welding
