We are now recruiting for  Survey Technicians, for our upcoming projects.

Candidates must be authorized to work in Australia or hold relevant work permit/visa for work in Australia. 

The Survey Technician has the primary responsibility for the installation, maintenance and fault-finding of the online survey computer systems together with the supporting survey sensors and interfacing to the vessel and ROV positioning systems. The primary requirements of the role are listed below.The Survey Technician has responsibility for the Health, Safety and welfare of himself and others.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and understanding of project procedures and survey and inspection requirements and implicit requirement for survey sensor configuration and operation.
  • Install, configure and interface all survey hardware, software and sensors, in compliance with manufacturer’s manuals, operating instructions and guidelines, and Subsea7 technical procedures and technical notes.
  • Must have a good working knowledge of Subsea7 standard acquisition and navigation software, specifically for interface testing and validation.
  • Maintain survey equipment in accordance with Subsea 7 maintenance and fault-finding procedures
  • Ensure that all technical faults are reported to offshore line manager
  • Assist surveyors with survey sensor and positioning system calibrations in accordance with standard Subsea 7 procedures.
  • Check and prepare all survey sensors, transponders etc. prior to deployment.
  • Ensure that deployed transponders are fully charged when they are required for deployment.
  • Must have reasonable knowledge and understanding of practical seamanship, marine terminology and rigging skills.
  • Deploy and recover survey sensors in accordance with Subsea 7 deployment and recovery procedures.
  • Must be knowledgeable of the Subsea 7 safety management system and operating standards.
  • Maintain onboard survey equipment inventory
  • The Survey Technician shall actively comply with the Subsea 7 Competence Assurance Scheme.
  • The Survey Technician shall comply with requirements of Subsea 7 Global HSEQ Training Program

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 12 months offshore experience in a relevant environment, with at least 100 days offshore as Associate Survey Technician.
  • Must have Eligibility to in  Australia 
  • HND or HNC qualification in relevant electrical/electronic related discipline preferred
  • Fully conversant wth Microsoft Office suite
  • Presents self in a professional manner appropriate to the role
  • Strong communication and report writing skills
  • Articulates views in a comprehensive manner
  • Produces written work of a high standard and presentable quality
  • Works well with others in a team environment
  • Ability to understand and interpret instruction and coordinate own work
  • Good organisational skills
  • Previous experience as a Survey technician within Oil & Gas survey & construction
  • Specific knowledge and understanding of current offshore survey techniques in Pre-engineering survey, pre-lay survey, construction support, as-built survey, ROV survey operations, LBL installation and calibration, Subsea metrology and dimensional control
  • Ability to analyse problems in a structured and disciplined manner
  • Manual handling
  • Basic IT networking skills
  • Knowledge and understanding underwater acoustics
  • Ability to maintain clear and concise logbooks and records.
  • Proficient with word processing and spreadsheet
  • Knowledge of the survey Navigation software packages
  • Knowledge of data interfacing protocols and limitations
  • Ability to fault find electronic components
  • Ability to interface electronic equipment
  • eligibility to work offshore Australia will be advantageous
