Seaway 7, the Renewables & Heavy Lifting business unit within Subsea 7, is seeking to hire a Fabrication Manager.

Seaway 7 provides project management, engineering, fabrication, heavy lifting, cable installation and decommissioning services for offshore energy infrastructure developments. Seaway 7 delivers these in a comprehensive array of contractual structures including EPCI (Engineering, Procurement, Construction & Installation), T&I (Transportation & Installation), BoP (balance of plant) and integrated services to our clients in the renewables and oil & gas industries.

The Fabrication Manager is responsible for the Third Party Fabrication Services within the EPCI business. The Fabrication Manager will act as a first point of contact for advice, guidance, support and control of third party fabrication from tender through to execution while also providing leadership and linkage across the tendering, project support and SCM support functions.

The Fabrication Manager will establish and maintain a mutually beneficial working relationship and service culture with the ‘internal stakeholders’ to ensure fabrication requirements, needs and expectations are fulfilled, and exceeded where practical.

As Manager Fabrication you will be responsible for developing the fabrication department within Seaway 7.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define our strategy regarding fabrication, identify key suppliers and ensure strategy is reviewed, and if necessary, updated on an annual basis to maintain our position both as market leader and as a prime client of our key suppliers.
  • Deliver input for design and T&I for EPCI tenders and projects.
  • Be part of the EPCI tender process. Manage together with Supply Chain Management the financial, technical, planning and legal part of fabrication scope (Jackets & Monopiles / TP’s) for EPCI prospects.
  • Execute the fabrication scope. Establishing, guiding and follow up of fabrication site teams – including regular visits to fabrication sites (own site teams).
  • Contribute to the development of workable policies, manage all day to day execution of work and maintain a helicopter view with regards to all activities.
  • Provide personal guidance, instructions, coaching and manages team members.
  • Ensure compliance with Company’s Code of Conduct and effectively communicate to suppliers the importance of business ethics.
  • Closely monitor the fabrication market with regards to pricing trends as well as available capacity.
  • Maintain and share information related to supplier capabilities and benchmarking data.
  • Develop and maintain long term relationships with key suppliers.
  • Develop, promote HSE culture with supplier and evaluate, monitor the HSE performance (including incident review and close out) along with driving continuous improvement.
  • Work in coordination with engineering to ensure designs are optimised in relation to third party fabrication.
  • Forecast, plan and allocate resource support (Site managers, QS, QA/QC) to projects.
  • Recruit, develop and retain suitably qualified personnel to ensure that the service is delivered to the tendering and project teams.
  • Maintain involvement with projects, where appropriate, during project execution. The fabrication manager will have an overview of supplier performance, will review the supplier assessment, will actively support project close out sessions and promote the sharing of lessons learnt.
  • Establish individual and team objectives and continually monitor using performance management techniques.
  • Review and approve bidder’s lists for third party fabrication services.
  • Review and approve all recommendation summaries/bid tab comparisons.
  • Any other duties as required.

To succeed in this role you will need to be able to lead all EPCI fabrication activities within Seaway 7. Next to this a strong developed vision on fabrication and excellent communication and influencing skills, enabling you to act effectively in a divers and international context. We expect you to have a broad experience within the industry, especially with EPCI projects. Regular travel is required however it is anticipated that they will be on short durations

Requirements

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree.
  • 15+ years overall experience.
  • 10 years of (jacket / topsides) fabrication experience.
  • Experience with fabrication scope and fabrication possibilities Europe / Middle & Far East / USA.
  • Interface experience with fabrication companies / engineering houses.
  • Understanding of (EPCI) project management.
  • Excellent leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Team player.
