Seaway 7, the Renewables & Heavy Lifting business unit within Subsea 7, is seeking to hire an Environmental and Sustainability Specialist for her product line Seaway Heavy Lifting.

Seaway 7 provides project management, engineering, fabrication, heavy lifting, cable installation and decommissioning services for offshore energy infrastructure developments. Seaway 7 delivers these in a comprehensive array of contractual structures including EPCI (Engineering, Procurement, Construction & Installation), T&I (Transportation & Installation), BoP (balance of plant) and integrated services to our clients in the renewables and oil & gas industries.

Seaway 7 is comprised of two companies:

  • Seaway Heavy Lifting (SHL) which manages and performs the transportation and heavy lifting of offshore structures.
  • Seaway Offshore Cables (SOC) which manages and performs submarine cable installation, trenching activities and related IMR services.

The HSEQ department of Seaway Heavy Lifting is responsible for the coordination of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality related matters on corporate and project level and we are looking for an Environmental and Sustainability Specialist, who can take our environmental and sustainability awareness to the next level.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and guidance in company’s quest to combine sustainability and profitability.
  • Identify company and project related environmental and
  • Sustainability opportunities and risks aligned with company’s materiality matrix.
  • Monitor and asses new (global) rules and regulations and industry best practices on sustainability.
  • Decarbonization; advice on strategic objectives and action plan for reducing company’s environmental footprint, guide company’s efforts, justify upcoming activities and define performance standards.
  • Design and develop models such that the company and projects use energy and resources sustainable, in other words, at a rate that does not compromise the natural environment.
  • Unleash sustainability innovation based on assessing new technology and big data with the aim to stand-out in the industry.
  • Identify and propose business cases for sustainable investments.
  • Develop in-company training program wherein company’s policies and sustainability program is explained.
  • Develop company specific sustainability metrics, taking into account the industry accepted standards and best practices.
  • Provide analysis and reporting on business unit level on all sustainability results and actions.
  • Advise on sustainability reporting and stakeholder communication program.
  • Provide tender and project input on sustainability.  
  • Draft project documentation ensuring project HSEQ deliverables are in time, correct and complete.
  • Support project execution, both onshore and offshore, including site inspections.

Capability profile / Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor level of education as Environmental or Sustainability Engineer.
  • Experience as Environmental / Sustainability Engineer.
  • An occupational safety degree like HVK, NEBOSH, MOSHE or equivalent qualification is an advantage.
  • Preferable experience in similar position in the offshore construction sector.
  • Experience in Environmental engineering and Environmental legislation with the purpose of obtaining approvals and permits for offshore decommissioning is an advantage.
  • Able to liaise and to collaborate with other stakeholder e.g. company’s business units, the business unit, departments, both on- and offshore, client’s representatives, (sub)contractors, suppliers, certifying and legislative authorities.
  • Practical, analytical, accurate and problem-solving attitude.
  • Able to liaise with department and company management.
  • Used to working in project teams.
  • Excellent command of English.
  • Able to write reports in a clear and coherent manner.
