Subsea 7 in Sutton are currently looking to recruit an Apprentice Engineer to support Computer Aided Design (CAE).  The role will report to the Support CAE Lead.

 

FUNCTION DESCRIPTION

 A significant part of Subsea7 Engineering performance directly relies on Computer-Aided Engineering and Design (CAE & CAD) software efficiency.

 

This efficiency is supported by the performance of the tools themselves, but also on:

  • How Engineers work with them (methods),
  • How they interact (process),
  • Where they run (High Performance Computing - HPC),
  • How we feed them (Data Management with Product Data Management – PDM - and Product Lifecycle Management - PLM)

 Based within the Design & Analysis Group of Subsea 7’s Global Project Centre, you will be in charge of supporting, improving and developing each aspects to maintain our CAE capabilities at best level.

 Apprentice contract here offered is addressed to student preparing a Master in Engineering Mechanics, Applied Mechanics or Numerical technics.

 

KEY RESPONSABILITIES

 3 years program proposed is as follows:

- Year 1: Focused on 3D CAD and drawings production to learn basics. Then work on a particular business case (example: template parametrized model, link with CAE model)

- Year 2: Focused on calculation design (hand calculations and FEA) on a real business case (example: part of a subsea structure, installation aids…)

- Year 3: Focused on a business improvement subject: how to use CAD and CAE tool to improve our engineering efficiency.

Work-study contract student in Engineering Mechanics, Applied Mechanics or Numerical technics.

Eagerness to learn.

Appetite for CAE software and scripting.

Good inter-personal and communication skills.
