Seaway 7, the Renewables & Heavy Lifting business unit of Subsea 7, is a uniquely capable and experienced partner for the delivery of offshore wind farm projects as well as specialist heavy lifting and cable installation services. With combined expertise in project management, engineering, procurement, fabrication, heavy lifting and cable installation services, Seaway 7 delivers these services in a comprehensive array of contractual structures including EPCI, T&I and BoP (Balance of Plant), to our clients in the offshore Renewables and Oil & Gas sector.

Seaway 7 operates from 4 main offices:

  • Heavy Lifting (Zoetermeer, Netherlands)  

Transportation and installation of offshore structures

  • Offshore Cables (Leer, Germany)  

Installation of submarine cables & umbilicals, trenching and IMR related business

  • EPC (Aberdeen, UK) 

Delivery of EPC solutions for the Renewables sector

  • Integrated Solutions and Floating Wind (Paris, France)

Delivery of integrated T&I solutions for the Renewables sector and Floating Wind development

We are looking for a fulltime (Sr.) Engineer Survey & Positioning, acting as a Project Surveyor to join our Specialist Engineering Department in Zoetermeer. 

The (Sr.) Engineer Survey & Positioning is involved in all survey, positioning and metrology aspects of offshore projects, both in the preparatory phases and during the offshore execution of projects. The (Sr.) Engineer guides the internal survey team and subcontractors on the technical items related to Survey & Positioning. The (Sr.) Engineer liaises with multiple project teams, SHL departments as well as with external parties and clients.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Write/review scopes of work, review subcontractor procedures, specify equipment, define required installation aids and assure as-built reporting
  • Propose cost effective survey options, and advise project teams and proposal teams on Survey & Positioning related challenges
  • Technically manage survey and positioning subcontractors
  • Liaise with our Technical Department for vessel for equipment set-up, calibration and maintenance
  • Liaise with our Operations Department to ensure safe an smooth offshore operations
  • Develop and maintain know-how of survey and positioning technology
  • Provide guidance and assistance during offshore execution of survey tasks 

Capability Profile / Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor (HTS) or Master degree (Hydrography, Geodesy or equivalent)
  • Approximately 3 to 6 years of experience in construction support survey work
  • Experience with GIS software
  • Good command of English in reading and writing
  • Preferably experience in subsea survey and positioning
  • Willingness to go offshore on our vessels (approximately once or twice a year)
  • A pragmatic attitude and a can-do mentality
  • Team player
