Subsea 7 is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic person to increase its designing and drafting capabilities in our Lisbon office.

This is a fixed term contract of 9 months.


The Designer/Draftsman is responsible for producing drawings and sketches consistent with good engineering practice and in compliance with company drawing office procedures. The role reports to Lead Designer.

All personnel are expected to contribute to creating a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices.


  • Under supervision provides design drafting skills of a high quality and efficient output for all project work undertaken.
  • Provide CAD/Inventor skills and knowledge both 2D and where appropriate 3D.
  • Interface with Drawing Office Supervisor or Lead Designer/Draftsman or Principal Designer/Draftsman to ensure CAD deliverable schedule is being met.
  • Ensure compliance with company QA and HSE procedures.
  • Ensure that design services provided comply with company standards and processes in line with appropriate legislation.
  • Operate within standardised engineering policies, processes and systems
  • Familiarity with relevant codes and standards used in the drafting work carried out
  • Liaise directly when instructed with Project Engineers on installation drawings and sketches
  • Comply with all quality system requirements regarding production, registering, revision and filing of drawings
  • Communicate with other Designers/Draftsmen to ensure knowledge sharing, best practice and competence
  • Record lessons learned and Opportunities for Improvement (OFIs) to assist in improved company systems and services.

Preferred Experience and Education

  • Degree qualified ideally in Design or Project;
  • 3 years of experience at least working with AutoCad 2D and 3D and Inventor;
  • Relevant experience in Companies of Oil & Gas or Metallic Structure is a plus;


  • Technical knowledge of AutoCad, Inventor and other relevant design tools
  • Sound communication skills, oral, written and electronic.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint
  • Independent level in English
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity
  • Team player
  • Ability to function within a design team and across multiple projects.
  • Ability to prioritise own workload and manage time accordingly
  • Ability to work within time/budget constraints
  • Commitment to Continuing Professional Development.
