We are seeking a dynamic, proactive individual who can work on one's own initiative with minimum direction. Reporting to the Tendering Manager, the Senior Tendering Engineer acts as the commercial lead in the tendering activities and is responsible for the overall coordination of the tender including preparation of accurate and economic costing and assessment of risk and competition. The role also involves negotiating the terms and conditions of the tenders with clients and suppliers to achieve the best commercial position with minimum exposure to risk.


  • Ensure the tender is compiled in accordance with the key milestones for all deliverables and quality of the proposal. In the case of major tenders, develop a schedule for the tendering process and monitor the actual progress to ensure that the deliverables dates are achieved.
  • Ensure application of the Group Tendering Procedure on tenders he/she is in charge of.
  • Keep the Tendering Manager informed on all key events and progress in relation to tenders he/she is in charge of.
  • Ensure that the deliverable is provided to the Tendering Co-ordinator who is responsible for the compilation of the tender.
  • Arrange for the issue of all revisions of the Tender Summary via the Tendering Secretary.
  • Liaise with the Tendering Secretary for the Organization of the Kickoff meeting, Pre-Tender and Tender Boards review
  • Arrange a formal risk assessment of the cost and schedule including a probability analysis against the risks, in accordance with the Tender Risk Management Procedure.
  • Supervise the project cost estimate, cash flow, and schedule including contingency.
  • Advise any change or withdrawal of qualifications to the issuer.
  • Review the cost estimate prepared by the Estimator and ensures all activities have been included.
  • Liaise with the Tax Manager to obtain the tax position and the associated qualifications. Advise SCM of taxes impacting subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Liaise with Legal Department for contractual qualifications to be addressed to Customer.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions of tenders with client and suppliers to achieve the best commercial position.
  • Assisting the business development team in the pursuit of future business.


  • A recognised degree or any equivalent qualification with minimum 3 - 5 years of experience working in a proposal/Tender environment at a similar level.
  • Possess a good understanding of technical, commercial and contractual issues.
  • Ability to co-ordinate a group of multi-disciplined people in order to deliver a proposal on time and at the level of quality required.
  • Prior experience in the upstream / offshore oil & gas industry preferred.
  • A good working knowledge of MS Excel and MS Project

  • To adhere to the highest standards of confidentiality regarding tendering business

Academic and Professional Qualifications:

  • Graduated in Engineering
  • Preferably experience in the marine and offshore installation industry and in large engineering and/or construction projects
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Adaptive, accurate and resourceful

Computer / IT Skills:

  • Microsoft Access, Excel, Power Point, Primavera preferable

Authority / Dimensions:

  • Operate within the Business Code of Conduct
  • Operate according to Subsea 7's Management Principles
  • Support standards and procedures for the relevant Function
