We currently have an opening for an experienced 3rd Engineer - Deck.

This is a Day Rate based position and candidates should be available within short notice.

The 3rd Eng - Deck will report to  the 1st Eng-Deck/2nd Eng- Deck and is responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of equipment related to lay deck operations whilst on shift, under the direction of the senior shift officer (usually 2nd Engineer Deck) and assist in engine room activities as required.

 All personnel are expected to contribute to a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices.

 The 3rd Engineer Deck is expected to contribute to a culture of ethics and integrity within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to our Code of Conduct.


 Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate within the Code of Conduct
  • Operate according to Subsea 7’s Management Principles
  • Primary responsibility for the maintenance and repair of the lay equipment, with specific responsibility of mechanical systems. Implements and monitors technical procedures and reporting, work management and execution, supervision of personnel and operational duties:
  • Ensures equipment and all systems are in complete working order and in compliance with all technical requirements
  • Ensures that the equipment is checked and maintained in accordance with relevant check lists
  • Organises and completes planned maintenance for the system, keeping records of defects to assist in planning of re-fits and maintenance periods
  • Compiles and maintains technical records, reports and logs in a computerised maintenance system
  • Assists in the identification and ordering of suitable spare parts to ensure they are available when required
  • Uses logical fault finding techniques during breakdown situations
  • Operates pipelay spread and auxiliary equipment during Lay operations

Key requirements:

  • Minimum ticket of - Officer of Engineering Watch Certificate of Competency (STCW III/1), meeting legislative requirements of the Flag State
  • Relevant experience working on pipelay vessels and lay deck equipment  will be highly advantageous
  • Recognised Seaman's discharge book
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing in accordance with STCW Code Table A-II/I
  • Appropriate knowledge of ship's Safety Management System (Ref: ISM Code)
  • Completed Security Awareness training relevant for the position (Ref: ISPS Code)
  • Hold at all times a valid Seafarers Medical fitness certificate and opito approved offshore survival certification
