The UK & Global IRM business provides clients with a complete turnkey solution that protects the integrity and optimises the performance of subsea infrastructure throughout the life of a field. To position ourselves for the future and help manage the increasing demand for our services, we are growing the team in Aberdeen to ensure we remain the go-to provider for all our clients’ life of field challenges.

The fundamental purpose of our business is project delivery. The engineering department provides the technical expertise and services required to ensure successful delivery of the projects. The Decommissioning Project Support Specialist shall be appointed to provide Engineering expertise on the project across the decommissioning cycle. The term ‘project’ work may be used to describe studies and tenders as well as live UK & GIRM projects. 

We are currently looking for a Decommissioning Project Support Specialist on Contract basis within our Decommissioning team based in Westhill, Aberdeen. Reporting directly to the Decommissioning Manager, key duties and responsibilities will include the following:-

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • With guidance from the Decommissioning Manager, evaluates, organises and prioritises work.
  • Responsible for the development of project-specific procedures, method statements, schedules for the implementation of work to be carried out by onshore & offshore personnel in accordance with UK & GIRM minimum standards. This may include some liaison directly with clients and subcontractors.
  • Signs and issues technical documentation as originator accepting personal responsibility for its adequacy.
  • With guidance from Decommissioning Manager select suitable equipment to perform operational tasks offshore, checking all aspects of the equipment to ensure it is operated safely and efficiently with suitable certification provided to meet statutory regulations. Also liaise with vessel departments and third-party contractors to ensure all equipment is fit for purpose and fully compatible with offshore worksite.
  • Be involved in the design of decommissioning tools and other equipment required for use offshore or for use onshore in preparation for offshore activities. Carry out monitoring of this through to fabrication and delivery, ensuring that the company’s quality procedures and relevant codes/standards are applied wherever applicable. Ensure ITP witness and hold points are managed in accordance with the overall project Quality Plans.
  • Ensures all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed.
  • All personnel are also expected to contribute to creating a culture of ethics and integrity and ensure familiarity with and adherence to our Code of Conduct.
  • Be involved as required in HAZID studies, HIRAs, SRAs & TRA’s of tasks detailed in the procedures.
  • Note any contractual variations during project ensuring all necessary documentation is in place to support commercial claims disputed upon completion of project.
  • Assist commercial department as required, in reviewing documentation or during bid activities.
  • Recommending and approving the supply of equipment for projects, ensuring equipment is suitable, fit for designated project purpose, in a serviceable condition and that all certification etc is in order.
  • Maintaining an efficient service to all clients and ensuring on-time delivery and adherence to the company’s HSEQ standards.
  • Maintaining regular contact and good working relationship with clients, managers, operating staff, workshop staff and third parties who contribute to the successful operation and timely completion of projects.
  • Providing support to offshore / onshore projects, also to overseas locations when called upon to do so, preparation and compilation of tenders for decommissioning tooling or services.
  • Ensuring that any legal/contractual requirements / problems relating to projects are understood by the relevant staff involved in the project and followed through to a satisfactory conclusion.
  • Overseeing all aspects of project timelines, budget and delivery, involving: liaising with Project managers and Project Engineering managers, managing CTR documentation, gathering client requirements and overseeing all aspects of project reporting
  • Ensuring that the relevant materials are available, that the necessary plant, personnel and documentation have been requested to allow satisfactory completion of the project.
  • Familiarisation of offshore operations through life of field to impart the best and complete solution through technology, equipment and resources to internal and external clients.
  • Ensure all possible opportunities are captured from a scope of work across the life of field

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

  • Presents self in a professional manner and in a manner which is representative of the Company.
  • Should be able to demonstrate an advanced level of communication and organisational skills.
  • Must produce work of a presentable standard which is accurate & precise

Skills:

  • The position will require candidates to interact with direct reports and people at various levels within the organisation and externally. It is therefore essential that candidates be in possession of excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • A good understanding and working knowledge of diver / ROV operations, tooling, practices and equipment is essential for the role.
  • The position calls for a self-motivated individual who has the adaptability to work effectively as part of team and as an individual. Pro-active to change within business, managing expectations and impact through overseeing key projects delivering critical changes and consistently achieving business cost saving targets

Qualifications and Education:

  • Relevant industry experience with specific focus and relevant experience of Decommissioning techniques, equipment and subsea operations
  • Degree qualified in an engineering discipline, however demonstrable industry experience is equally valid.
  • Offshore Medical and survival certificates are desirable, however a willingness to travel offshore is essential
  • Self-starter with excellent organisational skills. Ability to work individually with minimum of supervision who has the adaptability to work effectively as part of team and as an individual. Work within the HSE&Q procedures and processes of the Company.

Experience:

  • Several experience with specific focus on decommissioning and IRM subsea operations
  • Familiarity with marine and offshore / subsea production equipment and operations in general and in particular with as many items as possible from the following: 
  • Subsea Operations Onshore Support
  • Experience in planning, execution and/or offshore operation of various decommissioning and IRM scopes of work
  • Experience in planning and execution of cutting and dredging scopes
  • A good understanding and comprehensive working knowledge of subsea operations, installation practices, decommissioning activities and ROV and diver intervention activities
  • Experience of Microsoft Office suite, MS project, SharePoint and SAP preferred
  • Ability to identify and effectively prioritise workload and key issues of self and team within a dynamic and busy work environment and to work without the need for direct supervision.
