Subsea 7 are recruiting for an Onshore Technical Support Superintendent to work in our Offshore Resources team on a full-time staff basis based at our Baku, Azerbaijan office.  The working week is Monday to Saturday, and this will be offered on 6 weeks in country, 2 weeks leave rotation, but consideration will also be given to local and residential candidates.  Full details of this can be discussed at a later stage of the process. It should also be stated that this would be a 24/7 Operational project support regarding the IMR contract encompassing the BP First Responder duties.

Offshore Resources are an internal service provider within Subsea 7 supporting all the regions with the vessels, equipment, and people they need to deliver projects worldwide. We support the Subsea 7 SURF & Conventional fleet currently at 29 vessels, which includes dive, pipelay and heavy construction vessels.

The Onshore Technical Support Superintendent is a position within the Subsea 7 Azerbaijan team supporting BP AGT Caspian projects within BP AGT Inspection, Maintenance & Repair (IMR) Contract, the role also supports the 2021/2022 Shaz Deniz 2 Diving and ROV program along with BP ACE package 007/021.  They will report to the associated Project Manager and Dive/ROV Technical authority and act as company focal point on all Dive/ROV operations as part of BP projects executed from Azerbaijan region.

Specific Key Responsibilities & Activities

  • First line Operational/Technical point-of-contact for Subsea 7 (BP) Project Teams and Offshore Crews within the Caspian region.  This includes company in region Dive/ROV support with regards to:
    • Emergency Response and First Responder duties.
    • BP Major Accident Risk (MAR) activities.
  • Review of client scopes of work and provide input and support to the Engineering manager and team to execute safely and efficiently these.
  • Provide attendance to project work scope meetings (This can account for around a third of the working week and include but not exhaustive too:
    • Kick off meetings
    • PHA’s and HIRA’s
    • Weekly Reporting / Progress.
    • Close out and Lesson learned meetings.
  • Provide support and input and budget control with project CTR’s regarding Dive/ROV, tooling and intervention requirements.
  • Manage all intervention tooling including selection and interface requirements whether CPI, Subsea 7 or third party provided.  This includes raising of ETM’s, Issue of PR’s, Approvals of PO’s, tracking logistics and reporting accurate utilisation for billing purposes.
  • Carry out site receipt acceptance checks of equipment as it enters country prior to vessel mobilisation.
  • Manage the execution and delivery of bespoke and intervention solutions to the client - This includes working with internal functions such as the customised solutions team and externally with approved local vendors for fast track items.
  • Assist the project engineering team with technical and operational input to procedures, carry out procedure reviews and approvals of engineering drawings.
  • Support ad-hoc emergent tasks with assistance with MOC & MoTC creation support review and approvals.



  • An operational or technical support background with man management experience is required.
  • Excellent verbal & written communications skills in English are desirable, as is an aptitude for reporting verbally or in writing is a part of the role.
  • Should have excellent organisational skills and a proven ability to prioritise work and effectively manage their time.
  • Should have proven problem-solving skills.
  • Should display excellent interpersonal skills, including an ability to communicate effectively with Offshore Crews and Onshore Management alike.
  • Ability to self-manage, including flexibility around work hours, considering the operational support nature of the position.
  • Previous experience of Dive/ROV Operations (Onshore and/or Offshore) would be an advantage but not a requirement.
  • Should be willing to develop professionally and embrace new technologies and processes.



  • Should be formally trained in an engineering discipline, HNC or HND equivalent but ideally to degree level.  Consideration will also be given to those with extensive experience in Dive/ROV operations offshore.
