Seaway 7, the Renewables business unit of Subsea 7, is a highly capable and experienced partner for the delivery of fixed and floating offshore wind farm projects, as well as a provider of specialist heavy lifting and cable installation services.

With combined expertise in project management, engineering, procurement, fabrication, heavy lifting and cable installation services, Seaway 7 can deliver these services in a comprehensive array of contractual structures including engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI), transportation & installation (T&I) and balance of plant (BoP) to our clients in the offshore Renewables sector.

Seaway 7 operates through four divisions;

  • Heavy Lifting
    • T&I of offshore structures for the Renewables sector
  • Offshore Cables
    • T&I of submarine cables & umbilicals for the Renewables sector
    • Engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning (EPIC) of submarine cables for the Renewables sector
    • Trenching and inspection, repair and maintenance related business
  • EPCI Solutions
    • Delivery of EPCI solutions for the Renewables sector
  • Integrated Projects
    • Delivery of integrated Heavy Lifting and Offshore Cables solutions for the Renewables sector

The combination of Heavy Lifting, Offshore Cable installation and EPCI capabilities and expertise, makes Seaway 7 a versatile and highly capable partner of choice for the delivery of your complete offshore projects.

Seaway 7’s services are supported by five dedicated specialist vessels, that are augmented with vessels from Subsea 7’s larger fleet to provide additional support as and when required. The Seaway 7 fleet includes Heavy Lift Vessel Seaway Strashnov, Heavy Lift Vessel Seaway Yudin, Cable-Lay Vessels Seaway Aimery and Seaway Phoenix and Installation Support Vessel Seaway Moxie.



We have a new opportunity for a Cables Technology Lead to join the business based either in Leer, Germany or in Zoetermeer, Netherlands.  The focus of the Cables Technology Lead is to provide expertise in cable protections systems and cable stability to both the strategic technology programme and cables EPCI projects around the world.



Key Responsibilities and Activities

  • Develops and fosters a positive HSEQ culture throughout Subsea 7
  • Responsible for the efficient, timely, accurate and cost-effective management and delivery of activities
  • Plans, organises, manages and continuously improves the processes in accordance with Subsea 7 global ways of working
  • Ensures the implementation of and adherence to Subsea 7’s Management System, professional tools, policies, systems and processes
  • Provides input to budget and is accountable for controlling costs and meeting budget
  • Provides strategic direction, leadership, supervision and mentoring to team(s)
  • Develops a constructive and professional relationship with all stakeholders
  • Actively participates in the performance appraisal for the team and their reports
  • Supports the professional and career development of self and the team through continued professional training, mentoring, on the job development


Role Specific - Responsibilities & Activities

  • Provides specialist skills and knowledge related to cable protection systems and the stability of cables on the seabed.
  • Excellent knowledge covering the relevant design codes, legislative requirement and current good engineering practice.
  • Understands clients' needs; identifies and addresses design parameters and problems; develops and implements solutions.
  • Prepare and review design reports.
  • Provide guidance to engineers with respect to calculation methods and installation methods.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationship with CPS suppliers, cables manufacturers, and relevant consultants.




  • Clients for Technical Reviews, and input into tenders and studies.
  • Clients for identifying and helping clients develop what intervention is required to maintain client asset operability.
  • Subcontractors and suppliers for engineering and procurement activity.


  • Internal Engineering Director, Project Directors, Project Managers and Tendering Managers, Engineering Department, HSEQ, Supply Chain Management, Project Controls, Planning Managers, Engineering Compliance, Offshore Manager(s) and Supervisors, Engineering Resources Management Team and Communities of Excellence Manager.
  • Awareness of company structure to ensure that internal opportunities for engineering and hires are explored prior to exploring external services.
  • Weekly/ monthly reporting to senior management as required. 



Qualifications and Education:

  • It is preferable for candidate to be degree qualified in a relevant discipline plus appropriate experience.
  • Relevant previous experience at an appropriate level in the subsea, renewables or offshore environment.
