Seaway 7, the Renewables business unit of Subsea 7, is a highly capable and experienced partner for the delivery of fixed and floating offshore wind farm projects, as well as a provider of specialist heavy lifting and cable installation services.

With combined expertise in project management, engineering, procurement, fabrication, heavy lifting and cable installation services, Seaway 7 can deliver these services in a comprehensive array of contractual structures including engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI), transportation & installation (T&I) and balance of plant (BoP) to our clients in the offshore Renewables sector.

Seaway 7 operates through four divisions;

  • Heavy Lifting
    • T&I of offshore structures for the Renewables sector
  • Offshore Cables
    • T&I of submarine cables & umbilicals for the Renewables sector
    • Engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning (EPIC) of submarine cables for the Renewables sector
    • Trenching and inspection, repair and maintenance related business
  • EPCI Solutions
    • Delivery of EPCI solutions for the Renewables sector
  • Integrated Projects
    • Delivery of integrated Heavy Lifting and Offshore Cables solutions for the Renewables sector

The combination of Heavy Lifting, Offshore Cable installation and EPCI capabilities and expertise, makes Seaway 7 a versatile and highly capable partner of choice for the delivery of your complete offshore projects.

Seaway 7’s services are supported by five dedicated specialist vessels, that are augmented with vessels from Subsea 7’s larger fleet to provide additional support as and when required. The Seaway 7 fleet includes Heavy Lift Vessel Seaway Strashnov, Heavy Lift Vessel Seaway Yudin, Cable-Lay Vessels Seaway Aimery and Seaway Phoenix and Installation Support Vessel Seaway Moxie.


The Asset Development Lead manages the R&D projects; developing ideas, writing project proposals and delivering concept methods and designs.

R&D projects shall be developed up to Technical Readiness Level (TRL) 2 or 3, including feasibility confirmation, concept design, CAPEX budget estimate with adequate level of accuracy for inclusion in tender submission.


Key Responsibilities & Activities

  • Develops and fosters a positive HSEQ culture throughout Subsea 7
  • Responsible for the efficient, timely, accurate and cost effective management and delivery of activities
  • Adheres to Subsea 7’s Management System, professional tools, policies, systems and processes
  • Develops a constructive and professional relationship with all stakeholders

Role Specific - Key Responsibilities & Activities

  • Collect, structure and assess development ideas
  • Write Technology Roadmap including timeline and value proposition
  • Write specific R&D project proposals in line with the Technology Roadmap including budget/resources (CTR), CAPEX budget estimate with clear decision gates whether to progress or alter course
  • Facilitate decision making process on R&D project proposals with all relevant stakeholders
  • Negotiate resources from business functions, external or third party partners to achieve task
  • Develop R&D projects up to Technical Readiness Level (TRL) 2 or 3, including feasibility confirmation, concept design, CAPEX budget estimate with adequate level of accuracy for inclusion in tender submission.
  • Support projects in their first adoption of new technology

Preferred Experience and Education

  • MSc/BSc degree in offshore/mechanical/martime/offshore engineering or equivalent
  • Relevant engineering experience
  • Relevant experience with managing technical/development projects
