ROLE OVERVIEW

The Senior Reel Lay Installation Engineer will be responsible to provide engineering skills to projects, tendering activities, engineering studies, vessels and equipment and/or offshore engineering processes of rigid pipeline systems in compliance with codes and Client specifications. She/He can be in charge of a team of installation engineers

This engineer will report to the Reel Lay Installation Engineering Hub Lead and will be assigned to projects when required.

All personnel are expected to contribute to creating a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices.

 

SPECIFIC KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES

 

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialist skills, integrity and knowledge in the key area of reel-lay engineering, including design codes, legislative requirements and current good engineering practice.
  • Undertake responsibility for production of deliverables, which may include reel packing calculations, specifications, procedures, progress reports, bid evaluations, and study reports.
  • Originate technical documentation, accepting personal responsibility for its adequacy.
  • Provide engineering support during operations with occasional periods offshore or at dock.
  • Propose offshore vessel schedules, attempting to optimize operational timings
  • Aware of all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements.
  • Involved in HAZID studies and TRAs of tasks detailed in the procedures
  • Interface with associated subsea related disciplines and understands the interfaces within the project environment
  • Involved with meetings/correspondence with Clients, subcontractors, 3rd parties, etc. in a technical capacity.
  • Add to the Pipeline Group department lessons learned consolidation
  • Propose innovative solutions allowing cost & risks reduction

 

AUTHORITY/DIMENSIONS

 

  • Operate within the Business Code of Conduct
  • Operate according to Subsea 7's Management Principles.
  • Support standards and procedures for the Engineering and Operations Functions

 

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

 

  • Professional qualifications – Degree qualified or above. Preferably in Ocean, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • 5 or more years experience in installation or construction projects
  • Able to work in teams
  • Excellent communication skilla and confidence to liaise with clients
  • Excellent reporting writing skills with the ability to self-check and produce accurate work
  • ability toprioritize and organize work
  • aility to communicate at all levels within the organization
  • A demonstrable commitment to HSE and Quality
  • Shall be self-motivated and have well developed interpersonal skills
  • A willingness to travel on short assignments overseas
  • Can work to deadlines set by management

 

Desirable Experience, Skills and Knowledge

 

  • Experience in installation and construction of offshore rigid pipelines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel and MathCad
  • Familiarity with Python and VBA is a plus
