We are looking for a Senior Designer (Staff) to be part of the Global Projects Centre & Asia Pacific (GPC&AP) Drawing Office in Sutton. You will be responsible for producing 2D/3D models, procedural and design drawings for the fabrication of subsea structures and ancillaries for subsea installation of SPS and SURF as well as pipeline design related drawings.

Specific Key Responsibilities & Activities

  • Design/Model subsea structures and equipment using 3D Inventor software for project fabrication drawings, Conceptual and FEED Studies
  • Prepare design/fabrication drawings of steel structures and piping (P&IDs/Isometrics) using Inventor and AutoCAD software
  • Prepare pipeline related drawings like field layouts, alignment sheets, approach drawings, and crossings
  • Interface with other disciplines to obtain input for designs and drawings and to develop clash free designs
  • Assist in the identification of technical problems and contribute with possible solutions
  • Conduct self-check on drawing/sketches and undertake checking of others work in a project or department environment within own experience and competence level.
  • Prepare drawings and sketches consistent with good engineering practice and in compliance with company drawing office procedures
  • Assist Fabrication as required in the resolution of construction difficulties relating to design problems, clashes, etc.
  • Provide feedback and input to improve departmental standards, working methods and guidelines
  • Independently evaluates, organizes and prioritises his/her work, providing regular feedback to the Lead / Discipline Manager on workload and requests for additional support
  • Actively participates in training to pursue their continuing professional development.
  • Train and mentor apprentices and less experienced staff
  • Operates within standardised engineering policies, processes and systems in the Business Management System (BMS) and Knowledge Management Centre guidelines

 

Essential Experience, Skills and Knowledge

  • Trained in the use of AutoCAD 2D/3D
  • Trained in the use of Inventor 3D
  • Experience in design/drafting of (subsea) steel structures including piping
  • Prioritise, organise and deliver work to deadlines set by management
  • Produces work of presentable quality
  • Can effectively work as a team member across multiple projects
  • Presents self in a professional manner appropriate to the role
  • Sound communication skills in English

 

Desirable Experience, Skills and Knowledge

  • Advanced use of Inventor including iLogic functionality
  • Experience with Vault for data (drawings/models) management
  • Experience with Civil 3D for layout and alignment sheet production
  • Experience working with offshore field layouts and route planning and general subsea field development
  • Experience working on offshore operations method drawings
  • Experience of being in a project lead position managing a team of designers
