Seaway 7, the Renewables business unit of Subsea 7, is a highly capable and experienced partner for the delivery of fixed and floating offshore wind farm projects, as well as a provider of specialist heavy lifting and cable installation services.

With combined expertise in project management, engineering, procurement, fabrication, heavy lifting and cable installation services, Seaway 7 can deliver these services in a comprehensive array of contractual structures including engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI), transportation & installation (T&I) and balance of plant (BoP) to our clients in the offshore Renewables sector.

Seaway 7 operates through four divisions;

  • Heavy Lifting
  • T&I of offshore structures for the Renewables sector
  • Offshore Cables
  • T&I of submarine cables & umbilicals for the Renewables sector
  • Engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning (EPIC) of submarine cables for the Renewables sector
  • Trenching and inspection, repair and maintenance related business
  • EPCI Solutions
  • Delivery of EPCI solutions for the Renewables sector
  • Integrated Projects
  • Delivery of integrated Heavy Lifting and Offshore Cables solutions for the Renewables sector

The combination of Heavy Lifting, Offshore Cable installation and EPCI capabilities and expertise, makes Seaway 7 a versatile and highly capable partner of choice for the delivery of your complete offshore projects.

Seaway 7’s services are supported by five dedicated specialist vessels, that are augmented with vessels from Subsea 7’s larger fleet to provide additional support as and when required. The Seaway 7 fleet includes Heavy Lift Vessel Seaway Strashnov, Heavy Lift Vessel Seaway Yudin, Cable-Lay Vessels Seaway Aimery and Seaway Phoenix and Installation Support Vessel Seaway Moxie.

The official title for this position is: Senior Reporting and Compliance Accountant

We are looking for a fulltime Senior Financial Accountant to join the Accounting Team within our Finance Department in Zoetermeer. The senior financial accountant reports to the Manager Accounting & Reporting. The position does not have any direct reports, but it is expected to show leadership and seniority within the full accounting & reporting team.

Role within the organization:

The Senior Financial Accountant is part of the Seaway 7 Accounting and Reporting Team, consisting of Accounts Payable, Accountants and Reporting Analysts. The department consists of an office in Zoetermeer (NL), Aberdeen (S) and an office in Leer (D).


Objective of the position

Successfully building and growing the Seaway 7 Accounting & Reporting department, by contributing to the quality of internal controls (COSA), internal audits, external audits, financial statements and month/year end closure processes.


Key areas of responsibility

  • Prepares statements on a statutory and consolidated level, analyses and investigates variances and takes appropriate action when needed to ensure the accuracy of financial data;
  • Ensures that correct procedures (corporate guidelines) are being used and that all relevant documents are in place and auditable;
  • Provides financial advice, maintains and supports on the internal controls, accounting standards
  • Ensures proper entity balance sheet reconciliations and monthly analytical reviews;
  • Supports in following up on the teams monthly closing activities;
  • Coordinates interim, internal and year-end audits;
  • Coordinates audits and financial statements process with local accountants (German, France, Taiwan);
  • Coordinates and drafts the yearly financial statements (several IFRS and one in German GAAP);
  • Reconciles a wide variety of financial data for the purpose of maintaining accurate account balances and ensuring compliance with established accounting practices;
  • Ensures financial data is accurate, on-time and complete;
  • Supports in writing position papers for audit purposes;
  • Supports in the implementation any new relevant accounting standards.


General knowledge

Good understanding of accounting (IFRS) and financial reporting principles and practices;



Preferably a Master’s degree in Accounting & Controlling, Finance or Economics.


Experience and skills

  • At least 5-7 years of relevant experience, preferably with a big four company.
  • Hands-on mentality and motivation to work efficiently.
  • Able to provide robust and reasoned challenges to the Manager Accounting & Reporting, MT, project teams and other disciplines;
  • Deadline-oriented and able to work under pressure;
  • Has an eye for details/accuracy;
  • Able to plan workload and remain flexible for certain level of ad hoc tasks;
  • Proactive in signaling deadlines;
  • Able to create structure and align monthly processes;
  • Strong communicator in English (both spoken and written);
  • Able to connect with stakeholders on different levels;
  • SAP knowledge/experience is preferred, but not mandatory;
  • Excellent computer skills (Outlook & Excel).
