Within Africa, Middle East & Caspian region (AMEC), we safely execute Subsea and Conventional projects which connect seabed wellhead infrastructures to surface facilities such as platforms and floating production systems. We are actively present in a significant number of countries in Africa, Europe, Caspian Sea, Middle East and Asia.


The In-Country Project HSE Manager will have primary responsibility for HSE management and support of all SIA (Subsea 7) worksites in Turkey while providing leadership, support and direction to the in- country HSE team and wider SIA project workforce.

This role will have specific oversight of HSE deliverables for onshore and near shore scopes, including HSE support of the Filyos Marine Base (SIA multi user worksite), near shore civil construction works (SIA worksite) in addition to supporting suppliers to SIA/SS7 to enable them to execute their packages safely. These scopes include general civil and road works, beach approach works, nearshore subsea scopes including diving, pull in operations, barge operations, land based civil works up to the Onshore Production Facility (OPF - Gas Plant) location.

The role will require planning, integration and relationship building with project partners including Schlumberger and OnseSubsea to ensure the wider project delivers for the Client, while maintaining high HSE standards across SIA controlled worksites.

The role is a leadership role within the Subsea 7 organisation and will require relevant experience to support the in-country HSE team execute their roles across the multiple worksites. Furthermore, you will be required to work closely with the Country Manager and Project HSE Manager to strategize, plan and execute on the project. 

The role will require skills and experience to ensure a worksite start up process is in place, so our worksites are established / built safely ready for operations and project execution. 

This is an exciting role working on a large, nationally important project for Turkey. The role will be located in Filyos, however travel to Istanbul and other sites such as fabrication yards and marine bases may be needed.

Further to this, the in-country project HSE Manager will have responsibility within SIA SURF Package for the following key functional deliverables:


  • Developing strong working relationship with the Client HSE and operations team on site,
  • Supporting the Project HSE Manager, country Manager and other members of the project management team,
  • Review, understand and advise on Turkish OHS legislation,
  • Coach, mentor, develop SS7 HSE advisors working on various work sites,
  • Support all on shore and near shore worksites, including those managed by SS7 Suppliers,
  • Leading vehicle and road transport safety across all SIA onshore worksites including travel in and around Turkey,
  • Represent SS7 HSE team when/if Project HSE Manager is not available at Client and partner meetings,
  • Understand the contract and HSE exhibits and ensure the project delivers within these boundaries,
  • Effectively manage and support our local suppliers and able to verify that SIA HSE expectations and contractual obligations are being met,
  • Manage and support in country emergency response arrangement, medical support
  • Oversee accommodation safety and office worksite HSE management in country.

Additional Key Requirements of the Role:

  • To be based in Turkey on an assignment role, 18 months minimum (Filyos), accommodation provided if required,
  • Ability to support Project HSE Manager and cover when needed,
  • Ability to Lead investigations with demonstrated experience in completing Root Cause Analysis reports using Taproot, ICAM and or other processes,
  • Ability to work in hot and cold conditions, working on civil worksites and near shore environments,
  • Relevant professional qualifications and HSE experience,
  • Understanding of effective interface management from formal systems (permits) to informal (coordination meetings) is essential; SS7 systems will be used on SS7 worksites,
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse workforces and diverse cultural backgrounds,
  • Experience working with Turkish nationals and preferably speaking / understanding Turkish (not essential for the role),
  • Ability to speak in public and lead meetings, stand downs for safety etc in a professional manner,
  • Complete reports and other deliverable on time, including various administration tasks, and
  • Experience using SS7’s management systems would be preferable but not essential.
