Subsea 7 have a new opportunity for an Early Engagement Manager to join the Pipeline Group on a full time, permanent basis.  We are flexible on the location of this role but it would need to be within a European time zone and ideally within commutable distance of an existing Subsea 7 office. 

Subsea 7's vision is to lead the way in the delivery of offshore projects and services for the energy industry.  Our Pipeline Group offer consistent and progressive delivery of global rigid pipeline systems, through locally tailored solutions, automation and strategic supply chain partnerships.

Pipeline Group’s Early Engagement Manager will lead the Collaborative optioneering with the regions to develop the winning rigid pipelay strategy to deliver maximum value to the client. They will lead the assessment of various technical options and leverage appropriate use of Pipeline Group’s pipeline products and key differentiators.

It is expected that they will embrace digitalisation to improve efficiency and automation of optioneering tasks, facilitating higher quality solutions, faster delivery of offshore developments, improved identification and management of project risk and an all-round greater optimised solution.

All personnel are expected to contribute to creating a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices

Specific Key Responsibilities & Activities

  • Responsible as single point of contact within Pipeline Group for contributing to the regional WIN strategy for global rigid pipelay activities.
  • Through regional early engagement discussions identify regional specific needs and feed these into the Pipeline Group regional strategies owned by the Commercial Director. Support the delivery of these regional strategies as required.
  • Owns the Subsea 7 rigid pipelay competitive analysis with comparisons available for various different pipeline size ranges / products.
  • Through regional early engagement discussions identify and understand how global outlook compares with current rigid pipelay asset base (spoolbases and vessels) and make any necessary recommendations to the Commercial Director. Through nurturing global relationships with the regional teams, maintain a robust Early Engagement activity look ahead
  • Maintain a clear and concise management process to manage the timely delivery of Early Engagement activities to the regions.
  • Request and assign resources to Early Engagement activities ensuring appropriate use of expertise
  • In the spirit of digitalisation, strive to automate as much of the repetitive activities involved with optioneering and integrate these into the Field Development Group software to target maximum automation.
  • Approach each Early Engagement activity with a strategic viewpoint aiming to maximise Subsea 7’s value proposition to our clients.
  • Build and maintain a close relationship with the Subsea 7 Technology Group. Understand all technologies under development and consider how these may enhance Pipeline Group’s value offering and thus how this will assist the regions in developing a differentiated market position.
  • Report on and share knowledge gathered from regions within the Pipeline Group.

  • Degree qualified in either engineering or commercial background.
  • In depth technical knowledge of rigid pipeline fabrication, products and pipelay
  • Strong customer focus with ability to decipher the key client ‘wants’ and construct a clear value proposition around this
  • Does not get unsettled by change and has a strength in working with loose specifications and chart an optimised solution through various options.
  • Ability to process the ‘Big Picture’ items and develop a strategy to deliver a solution that addresses these.
  • Experience in applying a combination of supervisory and technical skills to the direction and eventual conclusion of complex projects
  • Proactive collaborator with ability to communicate effectively among and between stakeholder groups
  • Advanced problem solving skills
  • Superb with deadlines
  • Strong organisational competencies and project management skills to keep projects, processes, and the entire engineering team on track
  • Well-considered in all actions having weighed-up all factors and understanding of underlying principles.
