Seaway 7, the Renewables business unit of Subsea 7, is a highly capable and experienced partner for the delivery of fixed and floating offshore wind farm projects, as well as a provider of specialist heavy lifting and cable installation services.

With combined expertise in project management, engineering, procurement, fabrication, heavy lifting and cable installation services, Seaway 7 can deliver these services in a comprehensive array of contractual structures including engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI), transportation & installation (T&I) and balance of plant (BoP) to our clients in the offshore Renewables sector.

Seaway 7 operates through four divisions;

  • Heavy Lifting
    • T&I of offshore structures for the Renewables sector
  • Offshore Cables
    • T&I of submarine cables & umbilicals for the Renewables sector
    • Engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning (EPIC) of submarine cables for the Renewables sector
    • Trenching and inspection, repair and maintenance related business
  • EPCI Solutions
    • Delivery of EPCI solutions for the Renewables sector
  • Integrated Projects
    • Delivery of integrated Heavy Lifting and Offshore Cables solutions for the Renewables sector

The combination of Heavy Lifting, Offshore Cable installation and EPCI capabilities and expertise, makes Seaway 7 a versatile and highly capable partner of choice for the delivery of your complete offshore projects.

Seaway 7’s services are supported by five dedicated specialist vessels, that are augmented with vessels from Subsea 7’s larger fleet to provide additional support as and when required. The Seaway 7 fleet includes Heavy Lift Vessel Seaway Strashnov, Heavy Lift Vessel Seaway Yudin, Cable-Lay Vessels Seaway Aimery and Seaway Phoenix and Installation Support Vessel Seaway Moxie.

We have a new and exciting role for a Project Engineering Manager to join the Seaway 7 Engineering business based either in our Zoetermeer, The Netherlands or East Campus, Aberdeen offices.  The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating project engineering teams across various sizes of scopes. They will also be expected to coordinate and ensures quality of calculations and development of methods and procedures for installing, removing and transporting large offshore structures.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all engineering related aspects of projects, monitors and co-ordinates the work within the engineering team and with departments, subcontractors and clients on engineering issues.
  • Ensure that the engineering project team aligns the engineering performed on projects with the contractual requirements (in liaison with the Project Manager).
  • Ensure that the engineering project team aligns the engineering performed on projects with the input from other departments (Operations, Technical Department).
  • Liaise with those necessary to comply with the project contractual requirements.
  • Determine resources and planning to execute the work.
  • Control project engineering hour budget, raise internal variation orders, report potential external variation orders.
  • Organizes project meetings and represents SHL in meetings with clients, subcontractors and other organizations.
  • Provide periodic feedback on the performance of the (senior) engineers on the project to the engineering manager.
  • Provide periodic feedback to the (senior) engineers on the project on their performance.


Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor / Master degree (Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Maritime Engineering or equivalent)
  • Demonstrable experience as a Project Engineering Manager or similar level
  • Demonstrable experience within the offshore industry. Experience of working on renewables projects, especially offshore wind, would be an advantage.
  • Project Management course (preferred)
  • Good command of English
  • Good computer skills (Office)


  • Good commercial awareness, an understanding of cost and an ability to develop cost effective solutions.
  • Experience in technical risk identification and mitigation.
  • Experience of managing multi-discipline engineering input to projects or work packages.
  • Experience of working directly with clients.
  • Demonstrable ability to work within time/budget constraints.
  • Experience in technical risk identification and mitigation.
  • An ability to lead engineering teams across multiple locations.
  • Experience in interface management.


  • Excellent communication skills, oral, written and electronic.
  • Mentor engineers who have joined the company through the graduate and conversion programme.


  • Ability to manage multiple projects / work scopes in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to lead a design team
  • Ability to prioritise own and others’ workload, manage time and change control accordingly and direct team members where constraints will affect a project in terms of programme or budget
  • Ability to manage interfaces within a project structure, including other disciplines, drawing office, document control, project management, client and suppliers
  • Ability to coordinate resource in collaboration with regional engineering managers to guarantee all projects are well maintained.


  • Candidates should be generally conversant with IT systems such as e-mail and internet, and capable of utilising standard software packages such as MS Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint etc.) as may be required to facilitate written correspondence, reports and presentations.
