POSITION OVERVIEW

The Lead Planner (Vessel Crewing) works within the Offshore Crewing Department managing all aspects of planning vessel and spool-base crews for the Pipeline Group, and will supply a constant source of qualified, skilled and competent personnel to meet the demand of various stakeholders by required deadlines.

It is anticipated the role will be based in Aberdeen with regular visits to our Glasgow office.

The role will be required to build strong relationships with internal/external representatives.  As such our successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication, planning and organising skills, along with other role relevant experience.  Key responsibilities are to:

  • Monitor and forecast demand for all spool-base and offshore personnel (including Swagelining, Equipment, HSEQ, Operations etc) within Pipeline Group by optimising a network of direct engaged and agency personnel, always ensuring that there is a quality supply of personnel sufficient to meet such demand for the short, medium and long term requirements of the business.
  • Establish and maintain strategic manning models that identify by location the optimum mix of employment types, service longevity and cost rates.
  • Ensure the planning and execution of the deployment personnel in line with strategic manning models, engaging as necessary with territory operations, vessel management.
  • Lead and develop team members. Ensure work requirements and priorities are clearly outlined, understood and achieved, providing guidance and mentorship as required.
  • Engage with the L & D function on training and competency requirements for the pool.
  • Engage with relevant stakeholders on the succession and development of competent personnel in the pool.
  • Maintain a clear structure of roles and responsibilities within each team.
  • Engage with HR Department on matters of recruitment and performance management.
  • Ensure that all personnel are in possession of the necessary current certification required for their discipline/position.
  • Ensure that all Offshore Crewing systems are accurately updated in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and maximise the utilisation of staff against their contract days, balancing the use of day-rate, and agency personnel, costs.
  • Ensure that there is clarity regarding the local content requirements of the jurisdictions we operate in.
  • Ensure that there is a clear interface with the Tendering teams for consideration of the manning implications of bids under review.
  • Manage cost control within area of responsibility and approval of invoices where relevant in line with Company policy.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Established experience in a similar role within and energy sector.
  • An understanding of offshore disciplines and associated training/competency requirements.
  • Proficient in the use of IT applications, including MS Office Suite, SAP and database systems.

Desirable

  • Experienced in compiling reports for management.
  • Accustomed to co-ordinating and leading meetings.
