Subsea 7 Pipelines Group (PG) have an opening for a Vessel Operations Lead to be based either in our Sutton, London or Westhill, Aberdeen offices on a full time permanent basis. 

PG sits within Group Project and Operations function as the global service provider to correctly bid, prepare, execute and close out all pipelines projects carried out by PPT [spoolbases and bundle yard] and the Global Enabling Pipleay Vessels.   PG does this by combining the capabilities of PPT, PTAG and Rigid Pipelay Operations into a single function. PG’s mission is:

The Vessel Operations Lead (PG) reports directly to the Vessel Operation Manager(s) and the Pipeline Group Operations Delivery Director.

All personnel are expected to contribute to creating a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices and are also expected to contribute to creating a culture of ethics and integrity within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to our Code of Conduct.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Vessel Operations Lead assists the Vessel Operation Manager and can act as the single point of contact for project and tendering teams if required; providing continuity of knowledge regarding the vessel’s capabilities, performance, cost base and technical library.

During normal day to day operations, the Vessel Operations Lead supports the Vessel Operations Manager and the Offshore Management Team (OMT) to deliver the vessel program according to schedule, whilst ensuring consistent, efficient and safe ways of working.

Identifies linkage across the tendering, engineering, project support, offshore personnel vessel and equipment support functions within PG.

Supports day to day consistency of communication and direction between onshore and their assigned vessel(s) through all stages of the project life cycle, including tendering, project preparation, project execution, through to close out.

Reviews project specific deliverables (during tender and execution phases) to ensure a robust, optimal, fit-for-purpose solution is achieved (including risks and opportunities / databook / schedules). This is for all projects and not just those involving rigid pipelay

The Vessel Operations Lead is responsible for:

  • Support the delivery a vessel to the project that:
    • operates safely.
    • operates efficiently.
    • is fully ready to operate (mobilisation)
    • remains operational throughout the project life
  • Support the delivery of the vessel to the Region so that:
    • Operational in all respects
    • Is manned with a trained and competent crew.
    • It is ready to be imported by the Region.
    • An upmanning of the vessel is planned and efficiently carried out.
  • Support the identification of the most efficient field-to-field transition between projects.
  • Support the identification of the most efficient ICT between Regions.
  • Support the development of the Persons on Board (POB) in agreement with the VOM and offshore team.
  • Support the continuous improvement of vessel safety and operational performance.
  • Support Maintaining and updating the technical library for the vessel and its equipment, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) / Standard Task Plans (STP) and performance norms for specific activities carried out by the vessel and its equipment.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

  • Third-level technical or similar university degree, with relevant experience in offshore industry
  • Proven ability to solve operational problems without supervision and deliver effective results to internal clients.
  • Contribute to creating and managing a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea 7, providing safety leadership and championing Subsea 7's critical safety behaviours.
  • Strong sense of accountability
