We are currently seeking to enhance our already extensive talent pool by attracting a number of Trainee Surveyors through our Graduate Recruitment Campaign.

This role is an offshore based position and will be assigned where operationally required by the company.



The Surveyor’s primary function is the operation of Online Survey & Positioning software and equipment. Central to this is our Online Survey suite of software to ensure data collection and data quality are in accordance with project specifications and requirements.

The Surveyor is responsible for the collection and collation of quality control information relating to Online Survey data, such as DGNSS positioning quality, survey sensor quality, integrity of logged data and structured file management. The Surveyor will ensure survey operations are carried out in accordance with the company’s procedures, work instructions and checklists to ensure that project tolerances are met. They will compile survey project documentation for both on and offshore final reports, such as positioning results, daily logs, calibration data and CTD data. During periods of mobilisation and de-mobilisation the Surveyor will provide assistance under guidance from vessel management and senior managers.

Once competent at Senior Grade, the Surveyor may also be required to act as Party Chief on selected projects. In instances such as this, they will be responsible for the supervision and data quality of online and offline survey operations and liaison with Project Surveyor, Project Manager, Offshore Manager, Party Chief or other departments prior to and during projects to ensure efficient operation of contract.


Key responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate safety awareness and ensure compliance with HSEQ requirements at all times.
  • Actively participate in Task Risk Assessments (TRA) whilst Taking Time Out for Safety (TOFS) when required / directed.
  • Actively participate in Tool Box Talks (TBT) with fellow team members.
  • Maintaining highest standard of safety, ensuring adherence to safety procedures and observance of safe working practice at all times.
  • Work under direction of Party Chief or Senior Surveyor depending on grading of position.
  • Project preparation including review of project procedures.
  • Preparation of survey equipment and software.
  • Execution and assistance with survey and positioning equipment calibrations.
  • Liaison with Senior Surveyor or other departments prior to and during projects to ensure efficient operation of contract.
  • Set up and operation of online computer hardware, software and survey sensor suite.
  • Ensure all survey data is of the required standard and in accordance with Client and Company specification and procedures.
  • Technical monitoring of offshore survey operations. This includes ensuring the appropriate vessel and system calibrations are in use. Liaise with onshore survey staff on technical matters.
  • Implementation of QA/QC and HSE procedures and guidelines
  • Calculation and computation of survey results
  • Satisfactory feedback reporting on projects to Senior Surveyor or Surveyor dependent on grade.
  • Liaison with Survey Helpdesk on technical matters e.g. software, reporting and engineering.
  • Completion of Survey Shift Log Book.
  • Completion of equipment calibration and data logs.
  • Accumulation of all collected survey data for further processing.
  • Plan and supervise mobilisation of vessels and provide project briefings to all survey personnel on board the vessels when acting as Party Chief.
  • Survey report writing is a role requirement at all levels.
  • Understanding and review of project procedures and survey and inspection requirements
  • Comply with requirements of Subsea 7 Global HSEQ Training Program
  • Any other reasonable duties as directed by designated authorities


Key Requirements:

  • HNC, HND or Bachelors’ degree in Geomatics, Geography or associated discipline
  • Graduating in current year or graduated and looking to enter the Offshore Survey Industry
  • Strong Communication and organisational skills are essential
  • Ability to work in a team and contribute in a team environment
  • Willingness to support projects globally
