We are currently seeking to enhance our already extensive talent pool by attracting a number of Trainee Technicians through our Graduate Recruitment Campaign.

This role is an offshore based position and will be assigned where operationally required by the company.



The Survey Technician has the primary responsibility for the installation, maintenance and fault finding of survey data acquisition and display computer systems together with the supporting survey sensors and interfacing to the vessel and ROV positioning systems. The primary requirements of the role are defined below.

In addition to core technical duties, you will receive training on the use and operation of the online survey software suite as the ability to multitask is a key role requirement; this also benefits the individual’s skills and abilities.

The Survey Technician has responsibility for the Health, Safety and welfare of himself and others.


Key responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate Safety awareness and ensure compliance with HSEQ requirements at all times.
  • Actively participate in Task Rick Assessments (TRA) Taking Time Out for Safety (TOFS) when required / directed.
  • Actively participate in Tool Box Talks (TBT’s) with fellow team members  
  • Review and understanding of project procedures and survey and inspection requirements and implicit requirement for survey sensor configuration and operation.
  • Install, configure and interface all survey hardware, software and sensors, in compliance with manufacturer’s manuals, operating instructions and guidelines, and technical procedures and technical notes.
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of standard acquisition and navigation software, specifically for interface testing and validation.
  • Ability to demonstrate the required level of IT skills in line with role expectations.
  • Maintain survey equipment in accordance with maintenance and fault-finding procedures
  • Ability to prepare, install and maintain PC hardware and associated peripherals, diagnose faults and rectify.  
  • Ensure that all technical faults are reported to offshore line manager and recorded within our Equipment failure-reporting database.
  • Assist surveyors with survey sensor and positioning system calibrations in accordance with standard Subsea 7 procedures.
  • Check and prepare all survey sensors, transponders etc. prior to deployment.
  • Ensure that deployed transponders are fully charged when they are required for deployment.
  • Maintain a reasonable knowledge and understanding of practical seamanship, marine terminology and rigging skills.
  • Deploy and recover survey sensors in accordance with Subsea 7 deployment and recovery procedures.
  • Maintain accurate log of daily operations and equipment on site – ensure that when returning equipment to the operation base (onshore location) that all associated cabling etc. is included and clearly identifiable on the associated inbound manifests.
  • Understand and adhere to Subsea 7 safety management system and operating standards.
  • Maintain on board survey equipment inventory
  • Comply actively with Subsea 7 Competence Assurance Scheme.
  • Comply with requirements of Subsea 7 Global HSEQ Training Program
  • Any other reasonable duties as directed by designated authorities


Key Requirements:

  • HNC,HND or Bachelors’ degree in Electronics & Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • Graduating in current year or graduated and looking for a stepping stone to enter the offshore Surveying
  • Strong Communication and organisational skills are essential
  • Ability to work in a team and contribute in a team environment
  • Willingness to support projects globally
