Subsea 7’s Group Survey function delivers technical support to Offshore Surveyors, Data Processors and Survey Technicians deployed across its fleet working on Renewables, SURF & Conventional, and Inspection, Repair & Maintenance (IRM) offshore operations.

Reporting to the Survey Applications Support Manager, the role will assist in the provision of technical support and assistance to both offshore and onshore survey personnel.

It will also assist the team responsible for the development and provision of technical support and training to Subsea 7’s survey personnel, including the use of a range of survey applications from a portfolio of internal and external software packages.

Primarily based in Aberdeen, applicants must have the ability to undertake occasional short assignments, as required, to other work locations including international and offshore assignments.

The contract for this role will run until the end of December 2021 with the potential to extend.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Technical support in the use of Survey data acquisition software, particularly EIVA NaviPac & NaviScan products.
  • Assist with the commissioning and upgrading of survey software and systems across Subsea 7’s fleet of over 30 vessels.
  • Participate in the response to queries logged through the functions Survey Helpdesk.
  • Support in survey technology programmes such as implementation of remote services.
  • Support integration and function testing of survey equipment and software, as required.
  • Assist with the quality control and reporting of sensor calibrations across the fleet.
  • Prepare, develop, and revise technical documentation and guidance.
  • Support routine offshore operations in relation to standard survey practices and development of related procedures and technical documentation.
  • Any other associated duties as required by the team / operations.



  • HND or Bachelors’ degree in Geomatics, Geography or associated discipline.
  • Proficiency in the use of Eiva NaviPac & NaviScan products.
  • Experience in offshore survey operations using industry standard navigation and data acquisition software (e.g. QINSy, Navipac/NaviScan, WinFrog, Starfix.Nav).
  • Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office.



  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, builds and maintains strong business relationships at all levels on/offshore.
  • Ability to develop clear and concise technical documentation, producing written work of the highest standard and presentable quality.
  • Collaborative team worker able to work autonomously taking ownership of tasks and deadlines.
