What is the greatest challenge you have faced in your career and how did you overcome it?
Before I joined Seaway7 I had never worked for an international company, with international colleagues, and the industry was also new to me. I had to learn, ask, and connect – seems like I did not do too bad.
Who has made a difference to you and made you feel included?
Definitely my manager. He always welcomes questions, is concerned about our wellbeing, and gives us a considerable amount of independence in our job.
What fulfils you the most at work?
I feel proud when every time I complete a work scope together with colleagues – as a team.
What does inclusion mean to you?
Inclusion for me is, acknowledging that there are differences between people. When we recognise other people’s personal and professional positions, we will understand their and challenges. Real conversations help people to understand each other.
Collaboration is essential to complete a project and is always the key to success, within the company as well when working with subcontractors, clients and other stakeholders.
Can you think of someone who has supported you in your career by recognising challenges that were unique to you?
When I was a newcomer in Seaway7, my manager provided me with a lot of advice and new perspectives.
What advice would you give to others on how to inspire inclusion?
We need to get to know and like ourselves first before talking about inclusion. Self-awareness enables us to take the right actions when we face difficulties around inclusion. It allows us to empathise with others and helps looking for solutions together.
