We are looking for a HSE Engineer to join our team on a full time, 12 month contract in our Zoetermeer, Netherlands office or Leer, Germany.

 

As a HSE Engineer, you'll be responsible for coordinating Health & Safety and environmental matters on a company and project level. You'll provide the necessary support to create a positive HSE culture within the organization and ensure that all company-wide activities meet all regulatory and Group HSE requirements.

What will you be doing?

  • Promoting our Work Safe Home Safe program.
  • Supporting the implementation of the management system.
  • Acting as a point of contact for clients with HSE-related questions.
  • Engaging with vessels/worksites and suppliers to promote our culture, increase awareness and support with our processes, and get feedback on how we can improve.
  • Support the management of HSE risks on worksites and follow up verification of critical controls..
  • Facilitate risk review sessions with clients, worksites and suppliers.
  • Investigating and following up on incidents and near misses.
  • Conducting audits and inspections at supplier sites, worksites and offshore on vessels.
  • Give HSE related familiarizations and training sessions.
  • Maintaining legal compliance registers.
  • Providing project HSE deliverables.
  • Capturing and capitalizing on Lessons Learned to mitigate risk and promote safety and integrity consistently.
  • Monitor supplier HSE performance.
  • Reporting of Project HSE performance to Business Unit Management Team.
  • Consult with Project Team in all HSE matters.
  • Collaboration with peers in HSE

  • Degree level qualification or equivalent experience with relevant practical experience in engineering or operations, the HSE competency like NEBOSH can be obtained whilst on the job.
  • Experience in a similar position in the maritime industry/shipping or offshore construction or renewable wind sector is of advantage.
  • Experience with ISO 45001 based safety management systems, as well as legal compliance and risk management
  • The ability to write project HSE documentation and assess third-party HSE management systems (qualification as an auditor is preferred)
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to write reports in English in a clear and coherent manner
  • A proactive and self-starting mentality
