We are looking for a Senior/Principal Geotechnical Engineer specializing in soil mechanics to join our Seabed Intervention team in Zoetermeer on a permanent basis.

 

The Seabed Intervention department consists of a multi-disciplinary and multi-national team and provides engineering services related with the geotechnical design and the installation of offshore wind turbines and associated infrastructure such as cables, scour protection, crossings etc., for all  Seaway7 projects globally. In addition, this team works on R&D projects and in-house tool development, which are part of our focus on innovation.

 

What will you be doing?

 

  • Apply geotechnical principles to soil modelling, foundation design, cable trenching, and rock dumping.
  • Lead large projects with varying complexity from geotechnical perspective, or process with limited oversight from manager, including estimation of Resources per work package.
  • Interpret soil conditions, assess and advise on technical issues and risks.
  • Conduct driveability assessments, leg penetration analyses, feasibility studies, and ground risk evaluations.
  • Geotechnical design of offshore infrastructure (i.e. rock berms, CPS), assessment of ground conditions for selection of installation method / equipment, trenching method / equipment,
  • Focal point for all Seabed Intervention knowledge within project and ensuring company Geotechnical procedures and guidelines are upheld.
  • Develop innovative tools and processes using AI and contribute to R&D projects.
  • Manage internal and external stakeholders with a view to track and evaluate inputs of 3rd parties.
  • Support projects offshore/onsite (ad-hoc) as Geotechnical expert.
  • Coach, review and delegate work to junior professionals.
  • Represent Seabed Intervention in project meetings, client meetings and industry forums.
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing / development within the department (share Lessons learned).
  • Develop a good sense of collaboration with all colleagues.

  • Master’s or PhD in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering with (15+ years’ experience (Principal), 10+ years’ experience (Senior)), including relevant experience in Offshore/renewables sector.
  • Proficiency in offshore geotechnical engineering and software (e.g., GRLWEAP, PLAXIS) and computer programming (MATLAB, Python or similar).
  • A thorough knowledge of current site investigation practices and standards related to bottom fixed wind developments and associated infrastructure such as cables, scour protection, crossings, etc.
  • Effective analytical, mentoring, and communication skills.
  • Established experience within complex projects, as coordinator (external subcontractors and consultants) and as reviewer
  • Managing interfaces associated with geotechnical topics.
  • Willingness to travel for short assignments.
