Subsea 7 UK & Global IRM are looking for dynamic and enthusiastic team player to join our engineering group in Houston. 

 

The Mechanical Design Engineer will be a problem solver, expected to find practical answers to interesting challenges. Ideal candidates will be proficient in 3D CAD application, analysis, calculation and package management. Candidates will be expected to be accountable for a scope of work from initial enquiry through to concept, detailed design, delivery and project close out.

 

The role involves working as part of a multi-disciplined team as well as client and supplier contact (internal & external) so therefore requires excellent interpersonal skills and personal organization. This is ideally suited to a candidate with a strong background in mechanical/hydraulic design engineering and exposure to ROV/Diver intervention activities.

 

 

Main Job Requirements

 

  • Experience with a fast response, service oriented business
  • Strong understanding of and experience with project and product life cycle
  • Proficiency with schedule management
  • Aptitude with developing complex systems
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations explaining products or services to customers and prospective customers
  • Use technical skills to be able to explain to potential customers the benefits of our products vs. other products
  • Confer with customers and engineers to assess equipment needs and to determine system requirements
  • Collaborate with sales teams to understand customer requirements and provide sales support
  • Plan and modify products to meet customer needs
  • Help clients solve problems with installed equipment
  • Recommend improved materials or equipment to customers, showing how changes will lower costs or increase production
  • Previous operational experience in the ROV industry
  • Experience in Vendor and 3rdParty management
  • Proficiency in:
    • Finite element analysis
    • MathCad (Desirable but not essential)
    • 3D modelling (Autodesk Inventor)
    • Technical calculations
    • Materials selection
    • Structural Design (Desirable but not essential)

Essential:

  • Degree qualified with experience

 

Desirable:

  • Autocad inventor experience – Desirable but not essential
