Subsea 7 have an opportunity for a Senior or Lead Installation Methods Engineers to join our Pipeline Group based in Sutton, London full time either on a permanent or contract basis.  The Senior or Lead Installation Methods Engineer role incorporates the full installation process from procedure preparation and/or installation analysis up to the following of offshore operations on board the installation vessel.

Subsea 7 is a global leader in the delivery of offshore projects and services for the evolving energy industry. The Pipeline Group division is an internal service provider, with responsibility for rigid pipeline fabrication and installation supporting Subsea 7’s global projects. 

The Senior or Lead Installation Methods Engineer is responsible for delivering fit for purpose rigid pipeline installation engineering on projects or tenders with specific focus on safe and cost effective installation operations.

Depending on the level of the engineer they can be in charge of a team of reel lay installation engineers,  delivering reeled pipelay installation engineering for a project or a tender, generally under supervision of the Installation Engineering Lead – Pipeline Group.  They are responsible to the Installation engineering Team or Hub Lead – Pipeline Group.  

SPECIFIC KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES 

Overall Responsibilities: 

  • Manages a technical scope within the project/tender team with associated engineers and draftsmen
  • Manages the technical documentation related to the scope
  • Manages planning of the scope and priorities of their team
  • Liase with delegated external stakeholders (clients, subcontractors, etc.) and internal stakeholders (other Engineering Disciplines, Project/Tender Management Team, Supply Chain, Vessel Operations Manager, etc.),
  • Involvement in conceptual sudies
  • Produces installation procedures and acts as Senior Discipline Checker where required.
  • Performs inter discipline checks for other engineering disciplines who interface with the reel lay team, i.e. Structural Design, In Place Pipeline Design, Survey, etc.
  • Ensures that installation procedures and associated calculations are in line with relevant specifications, codes and standards.
  • Manages interfaces with subcontractors and internal stakeholders
  • Provides support to offshore operations with possible short periods offshore or on site
  • Participates actively in training and development of engineering direct reports
  • Participates actively to the Pipeline Group department lessons learned consolidation,
  • Evaluates installation risk and proposes innovative solutions allowing cost & risk reduction

  • Operate within the Subsea 7 Code of Conduct
  • Support standards and procedures for the Engineering and Operations Functions

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

  • Relevant engineering experience in a similar role, preferably in a reel lay environment
  • Able to work with teams
  • Offshore pipelaying experience is desirable
  • Sound communication skills
  • Excellent report writing skills with the ability to self-check and produce accurate work
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work for self and direct reports
  • Ability to communicate at all levels within the organization
  • A demonstrable commitment to HSE and Quality
  • Shall be self-motivated and have well developed interpersonal skills
  • A willingness to travel on short assignments overseas
  • Can work to deadlines set by management
  • Commitment to Continuing Professional Development.
