PRINCIPAL RIGID PIPELINE ENGINEER

Based within the Global Project Centre & Asia Pacific region, of Subsea 7 Suresnes office, you will be specializing in the design and analysis of offshore pipelines.

Reporting to Discipline Manager/Rigid Pipeline Team Lead or an Engineering Manager, the Lead Engineer will have responsibility for a particular discipline area and/or planning and coordinating the technical expertise and services required to ensure successful delivery of high quality engineering to meet commercial and technical needs. Individual is expected to improve the specific discipline work processes and be a technical governance for the Discipline. The scope will include studies and tenders as well as live projects.

All personnel are expected to contribute to creating a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices.

SPECIFIC KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES

  • Provide specialist skills in key areas of subsea pipeline engineering, including mechanical and integrity calculations for offshore pipelines according to relevant design codes.
  • Independently evaluates, organizes and prioritizes his/her work, providing regular feedback to the Discipline/Engineering Manager on workload and requests for additional support.
  • Lead a team supporting project or discipline.
  • Accountable for the budget and planning of the scope of her/his team.
  • Manage all external (clients, subcontractors) and internal interfaces (other disciplines, installation, SCM).
  • Participate in the conceptual studies.
  • Check and approve technical documentation, accepting personal responsibility for its adequacy.
  • Manage interfaces with subcontractors and internal clients.
  • Ensure that specifications and norms related to the project are respected.
  • Participate actively in engineers training and development.
  • Offer innovative solutions allowing cost & risks reduction.
  • Evaluate, organize and prioritize work for self and others.
  • Train and mentor junior and Graduate engineers
  • Participate to discipline continuous improvements and creates, develops and/or validates tools.
  • Operate within standardised engineering policies, processes and systems in the Business Management System (BMS) and Knowledge Management Centre guidelines.
  • Fosters external interface and stakeholders’ network with subcontractors and suppliers for engineering and procurement activities
  • Collaborates closely with internal stakeholders such as Project Engineering Managers Engineering Discipline Managers Other Engineering Departments and Engineering project personnel, Supply Chain Management and HSEQ project personnel onsite missions, Offshore Managers and Supervisors

Essential Experience, Skills and Knowledge

  • Professional qualifications – Degree qualified ideally in General, Civil/Structural or Mechanical Engineering. (Demonstrable experience in a similar role will also be considered)
  • Relevant engineering experience (10+ years) in the design of rigid pipelines within the Marine and/or Oil and Gas industry.
  • The Role would suit a candidate from a range of backgrounds including Pipeline, Mechanical, Structural Engineers.
  • Prioritise, organise and deliver work to deadlines set by management
  • Presents self in a professional manner appropriate to the role
  • Produces work of presentable quality
  • Can effectively work as a team member across multiple projects.
  • Communication skills in English.

Desirable Experience, Skills and Knowledge

  • In-depth knowledge of subsea pipeline design, fracture mechanics or finite element analyses acquired on-the job or via a PhD
  • Engineering experience within the Subsea industry
  • MSc or PhD in STEM subject
  • Previous experience with Python coding and data analysis
