WHAT YOU’LL DO

Subsea 7 currently have an excellent opportunity to join our Finance Resource Centre as a Senior Accountant in the Financial Reporting Team on an initial 12 month contract.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the legal entities within the Corporate management region, including a valuation for the statutory accounts of the group and entity reduction task oversight.

Joining the Financial Reporting team within the Finance Resource Centre (FRC) based in Westhill, Aberdeen, you will report to the Team Lead, working closely with other Senior Accountants on team wide projects and ensure work allocations are appropriate to be able to meet deadlines. 

In this role you will have direct line manager responsibilities for a small team with a key role in developing, coaching, mentoring and supervising with responsibility for leading performance review discussions with your direct reports.  You will also be responsible for working with your sub team to deliver financial reporting tasks for a management region.  This will include month end tasks, reviewing work completed by Accountants and Associate Accountants and building and maintaining relationships with regional finance teams.

It will be exciting, busy, varied and challenging so a ‘hands-on, sleeves-up’ approach is an absolute must. You will work closely with the whole FRC team to deliver a trusted, reliable and high-quality finance function.

Responsibilities:

  • The co-ordination and review of statutory accounts and back up files, constructively feeding back review points to ensure high quality statutory financial statements and audit back up are delivered on time
  • Preparing or reviewing technical accounting memos to support accounting decisions where required
  • Liaising with external auditors to ensure deadlines are met and issues are brought to the attention of the appropriate level of management when necessary
  • Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and analytical reviews prepared by the team, providing constructive feedback on improvements to the back up or the approach and proactively following up on outstanding review points and actions required
  • Working closely with your sub-team to develop the relationship with regional Finance Directors to discuss issues noted, sharing ideas and best practice
  • Helping to establish best practice, standardisation and ways of working for all FRC entities
  • Coaching and mentoring FRC Financial Reporting team members, providing regular feedback
  • Identify areas of process improvements and propose potential solutions
  • Collaborating closely with relevant departments to ensure timely resolution of issues
  • Provide training, where required, on technical accounting issues to the Subsea 7 Finance community

WHAT YOU NEED

You will be a qualified accountant, with audit and accounts preparation experience and at least 2 years post qualification experience in a Financial Reporting role. You will have experience of IFRS and FRS 101 statutory accounts preparation, financial controls and the audit process and experience working within a similar environment. You will have a proven track record of good quality accurate analysis and analytical review. Ideally you will have experience of working in or with large multinational companies and in a large team.

Being able to understand and interpret financial reports and then communicating this data both verbally and in writing is important in this role. You will thrive on delivering high quality outputs, with a right first-time attitude and have good review skills.

The role will require you to be proactive and confident working on your own initiative. You must have a keen eye for detail and be able to prioritise your work effectively. You will be a self-starter with a logical approach to problem solving. Being alert to process improvements within the department and the business is another area of continued focus.

Knowledge of working with SAP and a curiosity to understand processes to be able to identify and resolve problems is essential. Strong Microsoft Office skills are essential, particularly in Microsoft Excel and Word.
