DESCRIPTION OF ROLE

 The ROV Submersible Technician is responsible for leading a shift (normally nightshift) and can supervise the launch of recovery operations under normal sea state conditions. They can assess the weather conditions and operational parameters for safe operations, plan maintenance schedules and complete relevant Company documentation. They are capable of assessing scopes of work, carrying out the full range of vehicle repairs and undertaking the interface of any additional equipment as required. They are capable of writing technical reports to highlight system or maintenance requirements.

 The ROV Submersible Technician is required to have a sound technical and operational understanding of ROV operations and has the necessary piloting experience to undertake said operations.

 All personnel are expected to contribute to creating a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices. This will include, but not be limited to:

 

               Actively reporting all undesired events and safety observations using the Safety Observation system and Undesired Events Report system.

               Actively reporting non-conformances using the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) system.

               Actively reporting and managing any unsafe act, condition or procedure or environmental unsafe acts and conditions to the Chief Officer so that action can be taken to manage or minimize any and all risk.

 

All personnel are also expected to contribute to creating a culture of ethics and integrity within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to our Code of Conduct.

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

 Generic Key Responsibilities & Activities

 

               Responsible for the running of the assigned ROV System, for the duration of their shift period.

               Ensure that the safety and operational efficiency of the assigned ROV system are optimized.

               Attend base to undertake preparation or repair work on assigned ROV system prior to and/or upon completion of offshore operations.

               Be fully familiar with the relevant parts of the Subsea 7 Offshore Management System and project documentation with special attention to scope of work.

               Provide technical support to the ROV Supervisor.

               Compliance with Company documentation requirements for the assigned ROV system, including the recording of results on the ROV Dive Log.

               Carrying out general ROV operations duties as required (Piloting, etc.).

               Active participation in fault finding when equipment is under repair.

               The execution of Preventative Maintenance routines on the assigned ROV System and the recording of maintenance/repairs carried out on the system.

               Ensure that all system defects or problems are recorded in accordance with the Company's documentation systems.

               Set up, operation and maintenance of Project-specific equipment, where no on-site Project personnel are present.

               Assistance in the control and upkeep of all technical, procedural and general documentation issued to the system.

               Assistance in the preparation of Task Plans where there is no onsite Project Engineer.

               The general safety of all assigned ROV personnel and ROV related equipment on the worksite to during their shift period.

               The management of the ROV system's inventory, reporting any requirements to the ROV Supervisor.

               Storage of equipment spares and consumables in a manner which will minimize the risk of damage while ensuring that such materials are maintained in a usable condition.

               Carrying out a detailed briefing with the relief Submersible Engineer or provide detailed handover notes if no overlap possible. Particular attention to be paid in the handover to ROV technical issues.

 

AUTHORITY/DIMENSIONS

                Operate within the Code of Conduct

               Operate according to Subsea 7's Management Principles

               Work within the parameters of responsibility outlined for the vessel in the Vessel Authority Matrix

               Support standards and procedures for the ROV Function

KEY QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

                Completion of valid IMCA (or equivalent) ROV Certificate necessary for the specific geographical area of work

               Minimum College-level qualification in Electrical / Mechanical / Electronic / Hydraulics Engineering or equivalent

               Minimum 360 days experience and 100 hours piloting as ROV Pilot/Technician Grade I

               IMCA logbook with appropriate entries and satisfactorily completed company assessments.

               Valid offshore medical suitable for geographical area of work

               Valid offshore survival suitable for geographical area of work

               Compliance with the Subsea 7 Competence Assurance Assessment Program (CAAP)
