POSITION OVERVIEW

The Team Lead – Pipeline Group based in Singapore is responsible for delivering fit for purpose rigid pipeline installation engineering at all projects supported by the Pipeline Group with in her/his field of expertise and location. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring adequate and timely support is provided to tendering teams for all rigid pipeline packages with specific focus on safe and cost-effective installation methods.

The Team Lead – Pipeline Group based in Singapore oversees a team of method and analysis engineers dealing with pipeline installation methods (S&J Lay or Reel Lay).

The successful candidate will be responsible to the Engineering managers (Methods and Analysis) – Pipeline Group for the efficient and collaborative day-to-day management of the installation engineering team and provide regular operational reports on general projects engineering activities, technical support subject matters.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Manage a S/J lay and Reel lay installation engineering team, located in Singapore Office, so as to ensure successful delivery of engineering activities on all projects supported by the Pipeline Group within field of expertise and location.
  • Ensure that standard of engineering services provided complies with relevant company engineering standards with a clear focus on commerciality of engineering solutions. Ensure engineers are aware of BMS and PM7 processes.
  • Is responsible for the adequate capture and follow up of lessons learned and knowledge management within her/his subject matter.
  • Challenge - when encountered - relevant engineering standards having potential adverse impact on commerciality of engineering solutions and for reporting it to the relevant COE and Pipeline Group Management.
  • Promote safety culture and initiatives to the installation engineering team throughout the onshore and offshore delivery phases.
  • Recommend new work methods to improve efficiency of PG installation engineering services (ESSA).
  • Manage and participate in technical reviews / audits within her/his field of expertise or location as and when required.
  • Promote a collaborative environment across all the different offices and with the project and tender teams including the development and update of Subsea 7 processes and tools.
  • Ensure interfaces between Project Engineering Managers and PG Package leads work properly and intervene when necessary in a collaborative manner.
  • Give direct engineering guidance to PG installation engineers on specific subject matters.
  • Is in charge to represent PG installation Engineering to interface with local business team in Singapore for studies, tenders and projects.

Rigid Pipeline Installation Engineering deliverables (projects & tenders)

  • Ensure installation engineering is fit for purpose while meeting client specifications within her/his field of expertise and location as and when required.
  • Ensure work done in the region is done in compliance with Quality process of Subsea 7 and Engineering (PR-GL-ENG-014).
  • Act to ensure each installation engineering package is delivered as or better than the as-sold corresponding engineering hours budget
    • by preparing, reviewing CTRs and histogram issued on tenders
    • by performing regular project engineering plan reviews with Lead Engineers
    • by following regularly Engineering S-Curves produced by relevant engineering and enforce right level of effective reporting is produced
  • Ensure traceable interface process is in place within the team, focusing on safe and cost-effective installation, client’s product integrity and budgeted engineering hours.
  • Manage and participate in reviews such as methods statement, pipelay philosophy (in collaboration with production engineering), Analysis review, constructability review, during tendering phases and project phases so as to ensure proposed methodologies are safe, cost / time effective, in line with client specification.
  • Ensure risks & opportunities are properly identified.
  • Share knowledge with ECA/Reeling and Production Engineering teams.

Resource/Human Resource management:

  • Support her/his Engineering managers:
    • to manage the local PG Installation Engineering team on the day to day
    • to allocate people on project, tender support with adequate level of expertise (dashboard)
    • to participate in team individuals’ career development and aspirations (Compass plan
    • to participate in recruitment for her/his own team.
  • Is the SPOC with local HR in Singapore, and main interface with local engineering in Singapore, as required, including recruitment, salary review, training plan, local communication initiatives, …; All initiatives shall be coordinate with Engineering Manager of PG Installation Engineering.
  • Approve time sheet and ensure time allocation for all Engineers is correct.
  • When require, approve expenses claims.

Support to COE and Technology Development projects:

  • Keep abreast with relevant industry standards and design codes.
  • Support to COE and Technology Development projects as requested by PG installation engineering manager.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

  • Relevant industry experience in a similar role
  • Previous experience at management or team lead level
  • Recognised technical expertise in pipelay operations (i.e. Reel Lay, J-Lay, S-Lay) within the Oil and Gas industry
  • An awareness and understanding of engineering processes and organisation
  • Previous experience with installation engineering
