Our Pipeline Group (PG) offer consistent and progressive delivery of global rigid pipeline systems, through locally tailored solutions, automation and strategic supply chain partnerships.

An Estimator (PG) is a key part of a collaborative tendering group that support all the Subsea 7 regions in developing and delivering winning rigid pipelay tenders, offering maximum value to the client.  Working with other Estimators and a Senior Estimator, they will operate using processes and standards approved by the Subsea 7 Sales & Marketing function, with an emphasis on continuous improvement and consistent, high performance delivery.

It is expected that they will embrace digitalisation to improve efficiency and automation of the tendering process, facilitating higher quality deliverables, improved identification and management of project risk and an all-round greater optimised solution.  They will fully participate in embedding a culture of excellence within the tendering group. 

Our Role

This role presents an ideal opportunity for someone with a financial background, who is highly numerate with excellent interpersonal, analytical, and administrative skills.  While an understanding of commercial project processes would be beneficial, this is not essential.

Subsea 7 recognise that talent is found in all industries and as such applicants do not require prior experience within the energy sector. Applications will also be considered from candidates not yet operating at this level but who can demonstrate significant role relevant experience which can be further developed.

The PG team operate out of our Old Kilpatrick office in Glasgow and this would be our preferred base location for role.  Consideration may also be given to base locations of Sutton or Aberdeen for the right candidate, with visits to the Old Kilpatrick office.

Applicants must have the ability to travel to undertake occasional short assignments within the UK and globally, as required.

Role and Key Responsibilities

  • Accountable for producing the defined tender estimating deliverables to an agreed timetable.
  • Ensure that all cost estimates are approved and delivered in line with the BMS process.
  • Deliver all estimates required by the Pipeline Group Early Engagement team to support the regional WIN strategy for global rigid pipelay activities.
  • Take a leading role in managing the internal interfaces, ensuring that the timeline and deliverables are clearly understood.
  • Co-ordinate the tender review cycle, supporting the Package Lead in executing the management approval and handover process.
  • Build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with peers globally within Subsea 7, including the Regional Tendering Teams, the Pipeline Group Tendering Team and Pipeline Group Management Team.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of track record of all tendered data, to support the management analysis/forecasting and tender benchmarking.
  • Support the regional tendering team post tender delivery, to ensure that internal or external feedback is addressed in a concise and accurate manner.
  • Manage the handover of any awarded project estimates to the Pipeline Group Cost Controllers.
  • Actively identify opportunities for continuous improvement
