Seaway 7 has a new opportunity for a Senior Planning Engineer on a full-time staff basis to be based in the Aberdeen (Westhill) office to assist on current Projects and Tenders. 

Seaway 7 provides project management, engineering, fabrication, heavy lifting, cable installation and decommissioning services for offshore energy infrastructure developments.

The position of Senior Planner will be part of the Seagreen project team for the duration of the project.  The Senior Planner will be responsible for the planning interface with Client Reporting and also internally with the Offshore Operations scheduling.  

The role reports directly to the Lead Planner within the Project Services Team.  

Generic Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialist skills, integrity and knowledge in key areas of planning engineering, including an understanding of current good engineering/ fabrication practice.
  • Understand project needs; identify and address planning problems; develop and implement solutions.
  • Independently evaluate, organise and prioritise work for self and others.
  • Undertake responsibility for production of standard planning deliverables.
  • Actively participate in relevant training to pursue continuing professional development.
  • Work with associated renewables related disciplines.
  • Independently perform all aspects of planning and scheduling routines, including progress monitoring, co-ordination and analysis.
  • Apply advanced scheduling / planning techniques and analysis.
  • Demonstrate focused reasoning techniques and a structured approach to planning issues.
  • Discipline support of Seaway 7 planners at the Fabrication sites in developing, maintaining and analysing project scheduling data. 

Specific Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and present detailed planning information (Gantt charts, histograms, PERT charts) for the project.
  • Independently apply advanced scheduling and planning techniques and analysis within a project environment.
  • Provide planning support as required by the Project Services Manager and Operations Manager.
  • Input planning data: activities, tasks, logic, resources, key dates, progress etc.
  • Analyse planning data and modifications as required to achieve imposed targets through time-based analysis and/or resource limited based scheduling.
  • Manage computer output of programmes in graphic/printed form for barcharts, histograms, networks and ‘S' curves at all levels from detail to management /presentation.
  • Maintain progress data on live programs and produce progress reports.
  • Set up of progress monitoring and forecasting systems to suit Client requirements.
  • Maintain Primavera and Microsoft Project computer planning systems.
  • Ensure planning & progress measurement requirements, as stipulated by Contract (and/or by Project Management) are met.
  • Comply with Seaway 7 planning procedures or develop project-specific procedures if required by project.
  • In consultation with relevant parties, support development of overall Project Schedule as an accurate model of all required project timescales, taking account of resource requirements.
  • As frequently as required, provide accurate progress measurement updates and compare with the plan. Highlight deviations from Baseline Schedule and investigate alternatives for minimum impact on project targets.
  • Ensure all changes, and their impact, are reflected in the Baseline Schedule progress updates. Re-baseline the schedule if circumstances dictate that the original no longer reflects the outstanding scope of work. Subject to contractual conditions. 

Qualifications:

  • Education equal to a bachelor’s or master’s degree in planning engineering or administrative/financial discipline. Long and relevant work experience may be considered.
  • Relevant planning experience.
  • Ability to lead and function within a planning team and across multiple projects.
  • Ability to prioritise own workload, manage time accordingly.
  • Manage changes within own remit on a project. Inform team members where constraints will affect a project in terms of programme or budget.
  • Demonstrable ability to work within time/budget constraints.
  • Knowledge of Primavera P6 and MS Project.
