The Power Cable Senior Engineer role covers the full power cable engineering process from the field layout and electrical inftrastructure to the power cable manufacturing and commissioning. She/he is responsible of issuance and acceptance of all related engineering documentation to highest standards and implementation of documentation control process.

The Power Cable Senior engineer can be in charge of the production of all engineering deliverables relating to the Power Cable works (design and installation), manage and review Technical documentation from suppliers and or subcontractors and support the internal team involved in the design of the tender/project works.

 

SPECIFIC KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES

Under responsibility of Project Managers or Tender Lead:

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and deliver Power Cable engineering scope either by self, or with support from engineers or subcontractors assigned to his/her team within projects/tenders
  • Performs early engineering checks to support requests by pursuit/tender Lead
  • Support the Interface process with client & other contractors: assist to interface meetings, propose technical answer internally & externally to close interfaces issues,
  • Support on external (clients, subcontractors) and internal interfaces (planner, drafting office, analyses, fabrication, installation, SCM, …) in relation to the Power Cable engineering scope,
  • Ensures that specifications and norms related to the project/tender are respected
  • Proposes innovative solutions allowing cost & risks reduction
  • Produce engineering deliverables on the foundation of sound safety considerations
  • Proactively highlight complex issues to Project Engineering Managers or Project Managers and propose solutions
  • Ensure good relationship with Floating Wind Technical Lead

 

Power Cable specific responsibilities

  • Produce floating offshore windfarms field layout and propose electrical architecture (routes, layout, overall single line diagram, power cable design)
  • Produce basis of Electrical system design (Design basis, Dynamic & Static cables philosophy, SCADA system philosophy, Metering system philosophy, overall basic protection philosophy, HVAC or HVDC substation philosophy, basic electrical connection to Grid philosophy, emergency generation philosophy, redundancy options, maintenance & operation philosophy); LV systems
  • Propose Power Cable Condition Monitoring System;
  • Produce technical scope of work with split of responsibilities to consult power cable suppliers
  • Produce or review power cable in-place and installation analyses
  • Produce and propose power cable commissioning philosophy
  • Follow-up Power Cable manufacturing

 

KEY QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience within Power Cable engineering in Renewables offshore industry
  • Fully conversant in English verbally and in writing is a requirement.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and effectively manage multiple/changing priorities 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proactive and flexibility mind set.
  • Team player.
  • Ability to take an overall view and critical mind.
