Onshore HSE Advisor– Onshore Worksites

Location: Filyos- Turkey

We are actively present in a significant number of countries in Africa, Europe, Caspian Sea, Middle East and Asia.

 

Description of Role

The Onshore HSE Advisor role is a site based HSE position which will be based at the Subsea Integrated Alliance (SIA) Filyos marine base and/or SIA landfall work site. The SIA is an alliance between Subsea 7 and OnseSubsea (A Schlumberger Company) who together are executing the SURF component of the Sakarya Gas Project on behalf of Turkish Petroleum Offshore Technology Centre (TP-OTC).

The Onshore HSE Advisor will be part of the Onshore HSE team providing support to our worksites for all HSE matters for the project and furthermore, provide overarching guidance on matters that affect all partners and subcontractors on site.

The Onshore HSE advisor will ensure the delivery of HSE support under the SIA Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) and Emergency Response Plans (ERP) for the worksite and monitor partner and sub-contractor compliance to those plans, while ensuring the SS7 Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) are effectively used on site.  

This is a key role within the Project HSE team covering multiple worksites and subcontractor teams.

 

Role Responsibilities

  • Assist and advise the project / worksite personnel on all matters pertaining to the health, safety, security and welfare of personnel, the safeguarding of equipment and the preservation of the environment,
  • Advise project team on Turkish legal requirements during execution of the work,
  • Review equipment, plant, operator, and workers documentation prior to be mobilized at the project site ensuring in compliance with client, company and project requirements.
  • Contribute and support wider SURF HSE team(s) and other SIA team members, provide support to project HSE Team and marine base management team,
  • Promote, enhance and deliver the SS7 SSoW elements on site, as detailed in our project documentation,
  • Lead by example in all behaviours both at work and outside of ‘work’ ,
  • Promote supplier HSE initiatives and share best practice with Suppliers on site,
  • Completion of daily, weekly and monthly reports and other typical admin of a HSE advisor role,
  • Promote Project HSE Focus areas and conduct activities in relations to those,
  • Support project with the maintenance of specific HSE documents including site specific Emergency Response Plans, other site HSE documentation,
  • Co-ordinate or participate in HSE risk assessments. Review Subcontractor risk assessment reports to ensure they are adequate and facilitate as needed,
  • Provide input to Project HSE reports and reviews, as required,
  • Ensure that safety and personal protective equipment are used following manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Deliver site TOFS / TOFE, as required.

Qualifications and Training

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience with experience working as a HSE professional, with background in onshore worksites desirable,
  • Holding a BSc of science in Engineering (preferably civil, construction or environmental engineering)
  • Ability to work effectively within a multicultural work environment,
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing in English and Turkish, good written and oral English (B1 +) is essential for the role.
  • Ability to follow daily and weekly tasks, and partner with suppliers to ensure these tasks are completed,
  • Requirements to complete daily, weekly and monthly administrative tasks such including reporting and other document writing,
  • Ability to control demeanour and act confidently in challenging and emergency circumstances,
  • A professional certification in health and safety management will be an advantage but not essential with the right experience,
  • Demonstrated understanding of Turkish HSE Legislation and Regulation,
  • Class A or B occupational Safety Specialist recognised in Turkey,
  • Experience in working at heights, confined space, EWP, and other qualifications preferable
  • Ability to lead toolboxes and speak publicly,
  • Computer literacy and the ability to use the Microsoft suit of software is essential.
