About the job

Dogger Bank Wind Farms consist of three offshore wind farm projects, Dogger Bank A, B and C, located between 130 and 190km off the North East coast of England. Each project will have a capacity of up to 1.2 GW.

Seaway7 has been selected as the Transportation and Installation Contractor of the monopile foundations and transition pieces for the Dogger Bank Wind Farms Project’s A, B and C. Our new-build state of the art vessel Seaway Alfa Lift will be used as the installation vessel for the project, transporting and installing these foundations which are amongst the largest ever.

We are looking for a Project Engineering Manager to be a part of the Doggerbank project and take responsibility for the execution of the engineering effort on the project. Main activities will be based in Oslo. The Project Engineering Manager will report to the Project Manager.

The Project Engineering Manager needs to fit into our team with skills in both technical project management, offshore installation / marine operations and preferably knowledge within structural/mechanical engineering, naval architecture and/or geotechnical engineering.

Key tasks and Responsibilities

  • Manage all engineering related aspects of the project, monitor and co-ordinate the work within the engineering team and with departments, subcontractors and clients on engineering issues, keeping a focus on Quality and HSE aspects.
  • Ensure that the engineering project team aligns the engineering performed with the contractual requirements (in liaison with the Project Manager), schedule and budget.
  • Ensure that the engineering project team aligns the engineering performed with the input from other departments (Operations, Technical Department).
  • Liaise with those necessary to comply with the project contractual requirements.
  • Determine resources and planning to execute the work.
  • Control project engineering hour budget, raise internal variation orders, report potential external variation orders.
  • Organizes project meetings and represents Seaway7 in meetings with clients, subcontractors and other organizations.
  • Manage Engineering change control
  • Risk management, to identify project threats and opportunities

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor / Master degree (Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Maritime Engineering or equivalent)
  • Demonstrable experience as a Project Engineering Manager or similar level
  • Demonstrable experience within the offshore industry. Experience of working on renewables projects, especially offshore wind, would be an advantage.
  • Project Management course (preferred)
  • Fluent in English
  • Good computer skills (Office)

 

SKILLS

  • Good commercial awareness, an understanding of cost and an ability to develop cost effective solutions.
  • Experience in technical risk identification and mitigation.
  • Experience of managing multi-discipline engineering input to projects or work packages.
  • Experience of working directly with clients.
  • Demonstrable ability to work within time/budget constraints.
  • Experience in technical risk identification and mitigation.
  • An ability to lead engineering teams across multiple locations.
  • Experience in interface management.

 

INTERPERSONAL

  • Excellent communication skills, oral, written and electronic.
  • Mentor engineers as required

 

MANAGEMENT

  • Ability to manage multiple projects / work scopes in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to lead a design team
  • Ability to prioritise own and others’ workload, manage time and change control accordingly and direct team members where constraints will affect a project in terms of programme or budget
  • Ability to manage interfaces within a project structure, including other disciplines, drawing office, document control, project management, client and suppliers
  • Ability to coordinate resource in collaboration with regional engineering managers to guarantee all projects are well maintained.

IT

  • Candidates should be generally conversant with IT systems such as e-mail and internet, and capable of utilising standard software packages such as MS Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint etc.) as may be required to facilitate written correspondence, reports and presentations.
