Lead Engineer - Mentor

BUSINESS UNIT: Subsea 7 AMEC

OFFICE LOCATION: Lisbon - Portugal

Within Africa, Middle East & Caspian region (AMEC), we safely execute Subsea and Conventional projects which connect seabed wellhead infrastructures to surface facilities such as platforms and floating production systems. We are actively present in a significant number of countries in Africa, Europe, Caspian Sea, Middle East and Asia.

 

Role Overview

As part of the development of our Africa Middle East and Caspian Region (AMEC) we are looking for a Lead Engineer - Mentor to train and be the mentor of our new generation of trainees and as well to run the Conversion Engineering Programme , where experienced Engineers from other industries will take existing skills and experience and develop them into a new career with the Energy Industry.

 

MISSION

Integrated within the AMEC (Africa, Middle East and Caspian) Region the Lead Engineer will be responsible to train, mentor and coach SUBSEA 7 new generation of trainees.

The Lead Engineer - Mentor is someone with significant professional experience within the Oil & Gas industry with a keen interest of developing and train young Engineers. It is expected that this person has a strong and diverse knowledge about topics such as Installation Analysis, Pipeline Design, Structural Design and Installation Methods (such as soft products and structures installation).

 

Under the responsibility of the AMEC Engineering Director, your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Attend University Career Fairs and promote SUBSEA 7 brand
  • Act as a bridge between Subsea 7 and the Portuguese Universities in order to ensure we are able to bring on-board the “best talents”;
  • CV’s review, assessment of candidates and process follow-up with HR
  • Develop a consistent and up to date training plan for the Trainees following Subsea 7 internal standards and good practices;
  • Interface with the different discipline teams (Pipeline Engineering & SURF Analysis, Structures Design and Installation Methods)
  • Liaise with Subsea 7 Communities of Experts to ensure the latest industry standards, technologies and ways of working are captured on the training plans;
  • Perform check of analyses, design and engineering activities associated
  • Assist tenders / projects with specific knowledge
  • Attend discipline meetings, as required, and support knowledge transfer within the different disciplines
  • Ensure past projects Lesson learnt capitalisation and sharing

Capability profile – Knowledge, skills, experience

  • Degree in Mechanical / Ocean / Civil / Aerospace Engineering.
  • +10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry or equivalent, ideally with knowledge in Structural/Pipeline Design, Installation Analysis and Installation Methods.
  • Ability to lead small engineering teams
  • Proficient in FEA modelling and you know well OrcaFlex, Abacus and NSO Isymost software.
  • Fluency in English
