Associate Project Engineering Manager

Location: Suresnes- Paris

Role Overview

The Associate Project Engineering Manager is responsible for all technical and engineering deliverables on a particular project or project package, including client and supplier interfaces, resource management and budget control. This scope includes studies and tenders and live projects.

The Associate Project Engineering Manager will have responsibility for planning and coordinating the multi-discipline technical expertise and services required to ensure successful delivery of engineering to meet commercial and technical needs.

The Associate Project Engineering Manager may work independently or alongside another Associate Project Engineering Manager and may report to a Project Engineering Manager or a Project Manager, depending on size and complexity of the assigned work scope.

Responsibilities may also include performance appraisals, training and all other related business activities.

All personnel are expected to contribute to creating a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices.

 

Key Responsibilities

TECHNICAL DELIVERY

  • Responsible to Project Engineering Manager or Project Manager for delivery to project of engineering requirements

HSEQ and COMPLIANCE

  • Responsible for ensuring that standard of engineering services provided complies with corporate standards and Client specifications along with appropriate legislation
  • Ensure engineering personnel are aware of, and comply with, BMS and PM7 processes and systems
  • Promote and facilitate project team awareness of company QA and HSE procedures
  • Ensure that all procedures and methods of work developed have considered the safety of personnel and assets to minimise loss
  • Manage and participate in technical audits of projects and studies

RESOURCE AND SCHEDULE

  • Develop man-hour estimates and subsequent engineering schedule for implementation to suit overall project plan, taking responsibility for delivery
  • Identify project resource requirements and liaise with engineering discipline leaders to ensure availability and allocation
  • Manage the engineering resources and interfaces on a project to achieve successful delivery
  • Ensure schedule of engineering is linked to procurement activities, package and fabrication supply

COST, RISK AND CONTRACT MANAGEMENT

  • Identify and quantify any client engineering changes to contract
  • Encourage awareness and reporting of variations to contract scope. Identify and quantify engineering changes to contract and assist in providing input to Contracts Manager for variation orders
  • Actively engage in the project risk assessment and mitigation processes including identification of opportunities
  • Actively engage with others with emphasis on cost and robustness, capitalising on innovation and technology development

INTERFACE MANAGEMENT

  • Manage internal and external engineering interfaces
  • Ensure adequate engineering input to procurement activities
  • Represent the Company in meetings/correspondence with Clients, Subcontractors, 3rd Parties etc., in a technical capacity

PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT

  • Agree and monitor performance objectives with direct reports. Where necessary provide day to day guidance and coaching
  • Ensure that project teams maximise knowledge sharing, best practice and competence by using the tools available
  • Encourage knowledge management and continuous improvement

  • Operate within the Business Code of Conduct

  • Compliance with Subsea 7 standards and procedures

Profile:

  • Ability to lead and function within a project team, providing regular and constructive feedback
  • Ability to prioritise own and others’ workload, manage time and change control accordingly and direct team members where constraints will affect a project in terms of schedule, quality and or budget
  • Ability to manage interfaces within a project structure, including other disciplines, drawing office, document control, project management, client and suppliers
  • Ability to effectively solve problems, within a context of cost, contract and risk management
  • Sound communication skills, oral, written and electronic
  • Commitment to Continuing Professional Development
