General Description:

The EIC Engineer Level I – Electrical will be based in Suresnes (Paris) and mainly allocated in tenders, FEED and EPCI projects supporting the EIC project lead and interacting with client, partners and suppliers. However he/she may be requested to support in other scopes within the team responsibilities. His/her mission will be to provide expertise by understanding client needs and select/design the fit for purpose solution and support technically its delivery. Short term trips to attend meetings, site and offshore work may be required. The Engineer Level I usually works as part of a team but may have responsibility for discrete work packages supervised by a more senior team member.

Generic Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Provide limited skills, integrity and knowledge in key areas of discipline engineering, including design codes, legislative requirements, and current good engineering practice.
  • Under direct supervision, is involved with production of deliverables, which may include engineering support to the Drawing Office, design calculations, specifications, procedures, analyses, progress reports, bid evaluations, study reports and various 3rd-party submissions.
  • Originates technical documentation, accepting personal responsibility for its adequacy.
  • Aware of all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements.
  • Involved with meetings/correspondence with Clients, subcontractors, 3rd parties, etc. in a technical capacity.
  • Assists more junior engineers/graduates as appropriate. Sign and issue technical documentation as originator or checker, accepting personal responsibility for its adequacy.

Specific Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Perform and review electrical analysis: load flow and fault analysis (training will be provided)
  • Collaboration in the definition of electrical system architecture and protection philosophy
  • Elaborate scope of work and specification for design, fabrication, testing and installation of electrical and protection system at component level.
  • Manage provision of deliverables such as calculations/definition for umbilical core design (electrical), determination of interfaces between topside and subsea production control system, subsea medium voltage power distribution, etc.
  • Ensure design and detailing in accordance with acknowledged industry Codes, Standards and Design Guides (e.g. API, DNV, ISO, IEC); Client Specifications and Scopes of Work.
  • Production and checking of design documentation including feasibility reports, detailed design reports, construction drawings, design specifications, material take-offs, circuit diagrams, PIDs, installation, operation and maintenance manual; etc.
  • Liaise with associated subsea related disciplines and understand the interfaces within a project
  • Provide engineering assistance during mobilizations and occasional periods of offshore or site working, including FATs, SITs, Pre-commissioning and Commissioning.
  • Provide technical engineering support to other departments within the Central Engineering Group, the Project Engineering Group, and to colleagues.
  • Participate as required in events such as Bid Clarifications, Kick off meetings, HIRAs, FMECA, Design Reviews, etc.
  • Trains / mentors more junior engineers
  • Promote personal CPD (continuing professional development) through regular engagement with the professional engineering community

Desirable skills:

  • Experience on planning, detailing and review technical documentation.
  • Understanding the basics of electrical engineering activities with DC, Single and 3-phase Distribution Systems
  • Be familiar with power distribution calculation software i.e. ETAP.
  • Be familiar on how to manage interfaces within a project structure, including other disciplines, drawing office, document control, project management, client and suppliers.
  • Be familiar on how to manage change control within own remit on a project. Inform team members where constraints will affect a project in terms of programmed or budget.
  • Demonstrable ability to work within time/budget constraints
